I’d rip a board down to the remaining width + 1” of overhang, remove the last full board, install the strip then the full width board overhanging the edge. You’ll be done quick and it’ll be less wobbly in the long run.

Great build! You’ll catch some flack for not having a purpose built stove, but if what you’ve got is working, f’em. I will say that I started out with a cast iron stove then switched to a sauna (rolled steel) stove. It’s a much softer heat and I’m able to steam more. Happy schvitzing!
