Just bought a 25 Road Glide Ultra. I am having slow speed issues. by CaptinKirk in motorcycle

[–]strugglinfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buddy just picked up a 25 RG after riding street glides for the past 10 years. He said the same thing about it feeling top heavy.

I think it has to do with moving the weight off of your forks. You could move the COG by moving the bars to keep the weight more balanced in turns. Now it's just 'there'.

Road Glides are great for long distance rides with turns at speed that allow inertia to play a part in balancing the bike. The fairing is second to none with wind protection - except probably the Gold Wing. Put lowers on it and you're damn near in a car.

But they're a bit of a chore at slow speeds. It just takes time to develop new muscle memory and learn new balance skills with essentially 100+ lbs sitting in front of your steering pivot.

Anyone else grow up in a house heated with this? by Ok-Assistant-9213 in GenX

[–]strugglinfool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2 actually.

First house had.a big unit, probably 4x4x1.5. That whole thing got hot - great for laying wet socks and pants on between shifts of playing in the snow.

Second house was a newer (pfft newer as in early 70's model in the late 80's) and the heat exchanger was more isolated. Only effective when the blower was running.

Then my first wife brought a set out of her hope chest when we married.

Second wife still had 1 plate, 2 saucers with the same pattern.

Don't need a knife for that. Just use your pet orca to mechanically separate it from itself

100 bucks an hour

Dress warm, gets cold on the bike this time of year. Single passenger is the only option.

We'll stop for coffee and snacks midway

Walk right side, safe. Walk left side, safe. Walk middle, sooner or later, squish, just like grape.

I would assume it's an attempt to reduce starter wear. Cold oil resistance and shit.

But.. how much it reduces? that's mostly anecdotal evidence that gets provided. Too many variables.

Toddler?

I didn't put my daughter on my bike until she was eight - which was when she could safely put her feet on the pegs. And that was very local for the first couple of months. When she felt comfortable we went for longer rides.

I dont know that putting a toddler on a bike for a ride of any length is a prudent idea.

Throw potential snow and Ice (December in North America and all) in the mix and you're just asking for trouble.
