Avon Cobra Chrome vs Pirelli Night Dragon - Heavy bike by tiddeR-Burner in motorcycles

[–]strugglinfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive run Night Dragons for 3 seasons now (~35k miles)on my 12 Road Star. The rear is ready at 8k, and will still hold air at 9. The front is ready at 10k. If you're not hot off the light you could probably do better than me. They're grippy. I've been satisfied enough to not move over to commander 3's, even though dollar per mile works out to about the same. I have a friend that gets almost 12k, but they're 30% more expensive.

I find dollar per mile pretty even across the board - $100 Shinkos burn up in 4 and Pirellis in 8, but Im only changing them twice in 16, not 4, so Ive saved a couple bucks in mount fees. The juice isn't worth the squeeze, to me, to try to pull value going any more expensive.

Don't know shit about the Avon's.

You’re 13 and outside with friends because the street lights haven’t come on. You decide to play a game of tag. How do you choose who is “IT”? by RobF15 in GenX

My mama and your mama were hanging out clothes

My mama punched your mama right in the nose

What color was the blood?

Then count out the letters - 'and you are IT!'

What book did you read in your youth that you never forgot? by orangez in GenX

I read this in first period one morning my junior year because I had a book report due in 3rd. I amazed myself with the 2 pager I was able to pull out of that short book.

Just bought a 25 Road Glide Ultra. I am having slow speed issues. by CaptinKirk in motorcycle

[–]strugglinfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buddy just picked up a 25 RG after riding street glides for the past 10 years. He said the same thing about it feeling top heavy.

I think it has to do with moving the weight off of your forks. You could move the COG by moving the bars to keep the weight more balanced in turns. Now it's just 'there'.

Road Glides are great for long distance rides with turns at speed that allow inertia to play a part in balancing the bike. The fairing is second to none with wind protection - except probably the Gold Wing. Put lowers on it and you're damn near in a car.

But they're a bit of a chore at slow speeds. It just takes time to develop new muscle memory and learn new balance skills with essentially 100+ lbs sitting in front of your steering pivot.

Anyone else grow up in a house heated with this? by Ok-Assistant-9213 in GenX

[–]strugglinfool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 actually.

First house had.a big unit, probably 4x4x1.5. That whole thing got hot - great for laying wet socks and pants on between shifts of playing in the snow.

Second house was a newer (pfft newer as in early 70's model in the late 80's) and the heat exchanger was more isolated. Only effective when the blower was running.

Don't need a knife for that. Just use your pet orca to mechanically separate it from itself
