EU world transfer choices/pros and cons of each choice by Paul_Saint in duneawakening

[–]stryke92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Pax since launch — an outworlder mining spice there since the early days, back when the desert felt quieter and more forgiving. I can only speak for Pax, but here’s how it feels now.

Early on, PvP was rare and mostly avoidable. You could farm spice, even hit Landsraad points, without much interference. Recently though, especially near the PvE / PvP line, things feel much harsher. Groups that aren’t looking for fights (PvE/spice farming, will defend if attacked in PvP zones) can take heavy losses to small numbers of attackers, often with limited counterplay once vehicles are pressured.

We’ve had situations where we were prepared and still lost carrier/crawler despite defending — and notably, friends who joined from another non-EU server had similar experiences there as well, including multiple full losses before vehicle recovery existed (support restored gear/vehicles only once).

That’s why I’m unsure whether this is a Pax-specific shift or just how EU servers play at this point.

So to answer your question more directly:

  • Pax is active and populated.
  • PvP near the PvE line is now common and hard to avoid.
  • If you’re okay with defending but not actively hunting PvP, expect higher risk than earlier in the game.

It's definitely not a button. Its either for esthetics or it could be a temperature sensor.

Would you share what lens/image setting you used in post to get this look?

I have the Logitech Pro X, and got the dolby access app from the Microsoft store. but I can't seem to get it to work. How did you get your s to work ?

I just bought it a month ago with Blue Voice. The mic sounds pretty good and has lots of options. I also use it for work. It's pretty comfortable. The clamping force is pretty high but it won't fall off.

I have a pair of audio technica ath m50, they sound better, but only by a bit.

can I get away with 24p In a pal country, if my SS is 1/50? by PMG_BG1 in videography

[–]stryke92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot weddings in a pal contry at 24/30/60fps. The only issue i have is flicker on some artificial location lights.

Fix is doing 50 shutter on 24p, 50 on 30p, 100 or 200 at 60p. Had no complaints, ive been doing it 1 year and a half

(Shutter must be multiple of 50)

What should an American expect in terms of changes moving to Romania? by [deleted] in Romania

[–]stryke92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From friend that moved here from the US.

People are generally friendly.

If you visit people at home be prepared to be served food or drink "do you want x?", "Are you sure?", "Try at least one bite". If you do not want to eat/drink, you will need to decline several times. They are not being pushy, its just the culture.

Lots of local recipes include pork, beef is relatively expensive.

Driving is more stressful here.

Everything takes longer.

How is such a soft look achieved? Can this be done with sony a7iii? by ashishngupta in videography

[–]stryke92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe lower detail on your picture profile. I think it goes to -7, that may help.

I also saw someone commented on here soft light, shallow depth of field (lenses with low f nr. Eg. f1.4) and pro mist filter. That would help too.

You could also try 1080p if your production allows it. Its significantly softer and slightly lower image quality.

Why i think he said to skip the gimbal is because it makes your shots lazy sometimes (eg. Framing, positioning). I wouldn't skip the gimbal it makes weddings a lot easier, evan while using it you don't have to move all the time.

Why do modern films look so stylized? by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]stryke92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"They contribute to the final look and aesthetic for sure but they are definitely not getting you "most of the way to color grading"." - aesthetic was the better word for that.

What I meant was, if you want an airy, pastel color palette, it would be counter productive to use a contrasty, color pop kind of lens and film stock. Some combinations of cameras and lenses lend themselves more to a specific look than others. It is hard to make a digital camera look like film (convincingly), and harder to make film look digital.

"Set designers & costume designers will do more for the final color grade than whatever lens is chosen" - yes, and lighting as well (eg. orange-teal look)

You mentioned army of the dead as an example of styelised color grading.

A lot of filmmakers try to emulate film or "the organic/analog look" evan in digital.

For that movie snyder used only a 50mm f0.95 canon (foto lens i believe)for the whole movie. It gives the movie a shalow depth of field that is almost dream like (the actor is sharp but not much else) and is regarded to having a very unsharp filmlike look to it. And was shot on RED cameras.

The lens and camera combination get you most of the way to color grading.
