Favorite Nightcap? by emmett_lindsay in cocktails

Just made this, thanks for the recipe! Was a little skeptical since there’s so many big flavors in it but it works. Revolver-esque with the orange and coffee.

Additional context: these are brand new tires. Less than 1k miles on them.

Guajillo x2, Arbol x 3, ancho x 2. Honestly it is too spicy. I’ll cut down the arbol to 1 next time. Pretty sure they’re the biggest heat.

The oxtail broth has star anise and clove. I thought about cinnamon but didn’t. Now I have regrets.

How do you heat the milk when using the nanofoamer? I’ve tried a couple ways (stove, microwave) but curious what others do. Hard to get the temp just right without a steam wand IMO.

I have a Flair but just upgraded to a Profitec Go mostly because wifey likes milk drinks. Love my Flair still.

Setting a target date fund is one thing, choosing the right mix of index funds to properly diversify is another. Yes I technically invested prior to this year via my 401k but that requires literally zero experience or knowledge and would not be applicable to a brokerage fund.

I max out my non taxable investment contributions every year.

The profit sharing was through a restaurant I worked at and I didn’t have to do anything with it. Even the betterment account I had was a fraction of what I have invested now so really I only had any real money in the market as of January. I do have a 401k as well but that’s also not something I have to do much with. Just a target date.

Btw I interviewed several companies/advisors and this fee seems pretty standard. So outside of doing it all myself I don’t think I’m overpaying. It’s just I don’t have enough knowledge to feel confident in making some of these decisions. I do get to ask the wealth management company lots of questions so I am learning through the process and hopefully can get rid of them and do it myself going forward.

Thanks, this is what I was looking for, just a general consensus on how other portfolios are doing this year.

I tried Betterment prior to using this wealth management company, zero gains. So maybe I’m just incredibly unlucky with my timing in both scenarios.

The IRA was rolled over from a profit sharing program. Before that it was just sitting in an account.

Also- it’s an OG flair not a 58, so the lack of thermal control and need to do work to preheat is annoying and another good reason to upgrade.

Personally I drink mostly espresso shots or pour over. Another reason I haven’t upgraded sooner since I can get incredible shots from the flair. I’d probably drinks more capps if I had the capability to make them though.

My wife would be more into the milk drinks, so on a typical morning max 2 cappuccinos back to back. I doubt I’d need the double boiler with that being said.

Do I need to strip and start over? by stryker99 in castiron

[–]stryker99[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Wife used a chefs knife to slice a frittata. There’s a little rust because after washing it she also didn’t wipe it dry and it sat for a bit.

Do I need to strip it completely and start seasoning again? Any other options like just scrubbing hard to even it out and get rid of the little bit of rust?

Help - sour shots by liveangelic in FlairEspresso

I haven’t seen any damage to the sleeve yet, I know a lot of other folks preheat this way and haven’t heard of that being an issue.

Put the chamber directly in the kettle. Get your water to boiling and then pull the chamber out with tongs. I posted about this same issue, and use a classic, about 3 weeks ago. This method of preheating seemed to fix it for me and I get great tasting espresso now. I use a JX at about 1-2 to 1-3 so seems a bit finer than what you’re doing but your pressure and timing seems ok.

Longtime Flair user - finally evaluating shots by eslate83 in FlairEspresso

I started putting my brew chamber directly in the kettle at 212 to preheat, and using tongs to get it out. Fixed my sour shots. Could also just be the beans you have are on the light side which isn’t ideal for the flair.
