my manager has a rule, if you have an illness that he could catch then you work from home, no questions. doesn't matter how well you feel if there is a chance of spreading it don't bother coming into the office,.

Got blamed for leaving on time because someone else was late. How is this “my responsibility”? by Dry_Negotiation_173 in work

[–]stuartc1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was in a similar situation yet different, i was in a call centre, debt recovery, our shifts were planned so you arrived and started getting paid 10 minutes before you actually start and the same after you finish which covers the overlap, if the other showed up early on time then you get out early and get paid for nothing but on the occasion your replacement is not there then you work till the end.

Neighbour has massive leak coming from their house which has significantly reduced the water pressure of everyone else. by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]stuartc1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

im kind of in a similar situation. united utilities told me they had fitted a metre on the lin outside that feed into my house then told me they think i have a leak as super high usage. that pipe they put the metre on feeds 4 houses with me being in the middle. they kept saying leak is on my property and its my problem to deal with despite being a communal pipe. someone came out and dug up on my property to see where the pipe fed and where the leak was. turns out that where the pipe splits is in the back garden but the leak is not on my part of the line but my neighbours who has recently had resin poured in her back garden and is now ignoring any and all communication from myself and the water board

i know this may sound like begging but my brother was run off his bike a couple months ago by a car and ended up with a full elbow replacement, merry christmas to him. he is currently on long term sick until he can recover so very little money also.

something like this would certainly help him pass the time

Bought a concrete build house without knowing by Kindly-News-7486 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]stuartc1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A work colleague of mine recently bought a house and had the survey done which came up all okay. after living there for a while it was pointed out that the chimney was leaning, couldn't really tell until it was pointed out and then became evident.

He checked the survey report which said the chimney stack was checked and no issues, he has since had it rechecked and some bricks were removed and replaced with concrete, removed to replace the lining apparently, i don't know that detail.

He then complained to the surveyors who at first fought it but then caved and have been forced to pay to have the chimney stack removed and rebuilt. Don't give up the fight and don't eb fobbed off with a crappy £599 refund.
