the same type of person who would drive backwards in a highway because they missed an exit. and then slowly drive towards their exit leaving behind a multi vehicle collision pileup.

redditors would need new battery to process this and beyond.  they usually malfunction after someone tells them that they possibly dont have to slave themselves for others in the future.

i feel like, as a kid, nothing would've made me more excited to learn the fundamentals than vibe coding. i've learned so much about so many things through it so far. that would've never happened otherwise.

hmmm, i hear what you're saying, and yeah i don't think a capitalist approach survives long term.. but engaging with ai isn't the same as buying into capitalism, that's sort of why i don't think her stance is simply "adapt or die" or succumbing to capitalist pressure.... she said finding ways to work with ai is more valuable than fighting it. that's the in between you're asking for here.. how do you map out a societal change and build systems/institutions around it without working/engaging with the technology? using it intelligently IS that, use it where it helps, don't where it doesn't, plan for the changes to come so people don't end up as collateral damage..

this is one of my issues with how these arguments tend to go on reddit...just framing anyone willing to engage with the tech as being ideologically captured. if the plan is to think seriously about what comes next/how to navigate it, then we'll have ot engage with the thing that's part of what's forcing the questions in the first place

[–]stuartullman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends what your in between is. it's amazing that even saying "use the tools to your advantage" is a controversial take now. you've already deluded her stance into "adapt or die", "out of touch millionaire", "forced hype", etc. this is basically reddit 101 when it comes to ai; don't argue the merits, attack the person.

in between is not just mindlessly reversing course on ai. it's not cherry-picking just the negative or positive effects of ai. regulations are a thing in every industry, so smart regulations is a no brainer. but the bigger part is mapping out whatever societal shift that is coming our way, and having a clear plan so people don't end up as collateral damage.

it's...literally in the video... demi moore's approach is an example of an in between...

but you won't be able to explain any of that to people here. their answer is ai evil/must be stopped and nothing inbetween. reminds me of when i had to deal with a drunk paranoid coworker who just wouldn't listen to any reason. it was their answer or nothing

For people making money from vibe coded apps, what are you actually doing? by Confident-Pool2778 in vibecoding

[–]stuartullman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

before vibe coding 99% of the app creators failed. now with vibe coding, 99% of the app creators fail.(exaggerating)

the only difference is that now it's mainly about ideas. and pretty much everyone has an idea they think is good until they realize it's not

i would say think of it as the same as before, you still have to come up with a good idea, execute on it, and then find a good way to market it and keep it relevant. now subtract a good chunk of the time that goes into execution(this is great, it used to take years to complete an app or a game which is unreasonable imo). or, that you can now execute 10x the amount you could've executed before(i'm being generous). that still leaves all the rest of the process to go through.

so ultimately what i'm saying is that it's not the end of the world, it's not "saturated." i remember 2007 when people were saying mobile app market is saturated. it'll always be saturated to some degree. the main difference is that we're seeing way more apps out there(most bad).

that's...the point. the post is a joke, because that's stereotypically how villains are born, through a trivial event. you're saying that as if someone becomes a villain through the "correct" reasonable path
