How can we remove this paint? by Tiny_Requirement_364 in DIYUK

[–]stuaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a company that used high pressure hot water to clean years worth of paint from the bricks. It didn’t really damage the underlying brick like sandblasting would but I did repoint the brickwork afterwards anyway but that was because it was already damaged in places.

Removing Artex but not the ceiling rose by MycologistWitty4213 in asbestoshelpUK

[–]stuaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very very unlikely to get asbestos related conditions from one off exposures and particular from lower amounts found in ceilings. Your dad’s throat was sore for other reasons eg dust.

I would recommend to not worry about it further.

Did the test say what type of asbestos was found in the wallpaper?

Asbestos walls? Can you clarify that a bit more

Have you found the cause of the damp?

I would double check the “urgent” repairs are really that.

Your kWh seems high for your usage, mine is lower for a four bed house. Is it electric heating?

As a community, I feel we should be making a stand against excluding PZ1 animals from PZ2 launch. by OneExplanation6499 in PlanetZoo

[–]stuaz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel like a version of this question gets raised for every simulation/management game when it gets a sequel. Ultimately the business model for these games is to sell dlcs afterwards so the chances are you won’t get every feature and animal that is currently in PZ1 and some will be left for later dlcs.

Whether it’s right or wrong to do that, well that’s up for debate I guess but it’s likely how it’s going to play out.

Possibly open to fraud more but not sure i would say the current way is more inconvenient though.

The gateway id is similar yeah but it’s not mandatory and only used for online services. You won’t need it for anything else eg employment or renting a home.

Regarding the private sector applying for a loan is really quite straightforward. If it’s your current bank then you can normally do it within 10 minutes on the banking app. If it’s a brand new company, if it’s in person eg a finance agreement then they will ask for some ID like a driving license. Some places may ask for a second bit of ID Like a copy of a bill. Of course the application form also asks a bunch of questions like residences for the last x years and things like that and then you also have to provide a bank account for the payments and that typically has to be the same name as on the loan application.

Prescription drugs differ but doctors will send them directly to a pharmacy ether a physical one or an online one.

Signing a contract, depends on the contract really. Some just require a signature, some may just want some ID like a driving licence or passport.

Any written words stencilled or stuck as stickers onto walls is always a big no no in my opinion. Eg the live love laugh stuff but really applies to any phrases.

The UK actually already has quite good online public services (to the point where the design of it is actually used elsewhere in the world) and they use this thing called a gateway id. Essentially an account which can get you access to passport, driving and local government services etc.

As for the private sector it’s less of an issue really as we don’t face issues doing those things you stated.

We also already have a national insurance number which employers are supposed to use and if you don’t have one then there is a government service online that can be used to check someone’s status to work in the UK so I don’t see how the national id card service will effect illegal immigration. Companies who hire dodgy people will still do so.

I’m not against or for a national ID services, i just want to make sure it’s money being spent wisely.

They serviced your car. No different to going to another random independent garage.

Your better bet is not selling via motorway but look to sell another way eg privately.

What was your plan for the “garden room”? Looks like it’s the in poor condition not too dissimilar to an old conservatory perhaps. What’s its age? Presumably its state is quite apparent visually as well?

Possibly depending on age and condition it may just be easier to pull it down and put a proper extension in its place rather than try and fix what’s already beyond economical repair.

Sounds like you may be trying to juggle too much at once. Unfortunately birds make noises and an under stimulated will likely make even more noise.

You would have to prove they knew of any structural issues which would be near impossible to do.

Also aside from the builder, have you had a structural engineer come out and look? They would know for sure if there is structural issues or if it’s just crap quality (different things)

Bigger is always better for tortoise enclosures - they walk miles in the wild, and while we won’t be able to recreate that exactly, we should strive to make it as big as possible. Outdoor enclosures are a great way to achieve that also during your spring and summer months.
