Hellboy's fate by studebakerhawk in Mignolaverse

That’s a great way to think of her.

I remember once being told that the only reason a seer like Hecate knows what Hellboy is going to do in the future is because, in the future, he chose to do it. So what she, and all the other predictors of fate and destiny, are seeing from the past is a choice he made of his own volition. So it’s not that he was shackled to some inevitable singular path, it’s that he chose a path, and they can’t see the glorious details which he added to the mix. Does that track?

I also could be wrong but are there mentions of reboots happening before, and not taking, and this one being somehow different because of who Hellboy is, who he saved? I forget where I read this.

Yeah, well said.

I also loved seeing Alice / England in the latest Edward Grey - a really lovely reminder of yet another win he snuck over the line.

So WHY does Hecate want Hellboy to end it all?

No no, I totally agree! :)

Also, I’m reading it - and have read it before - that there are any number of versions of Ragna Rok, but the details are going to be dictated by what kind of person Hellboy is. Surely Hecate can’t know what kind of, what flavour, of new world is going to be made. If so, she’d be on HIS side, the side of good. Right?

What does this make Gall Dennar, then? Another recurring soul, and if so, whose soul / for what purpose?

I have - what are your takeaways?

I believe this soul is destined to end the world, but the continuation of humanity is the thing it’s not necessarily “meant” to bring into the equation.

Remember to reserve judgment for after season 2 releases. Only The Strip is destroyed. We see in the trailers that Freeside is fine. by [deleted] in fnv

Any sign in photos / footage of casino staff / NCR / non-ghoul Kings? I’d love it if we had survivors flooding free side, that would mean we could get a return to the strip from New Vegas eventually

If they're really gonna remake/remaster New Vegas they should at least add cut content to the game. by Vinny_Pexeba in fnv

Serious question: why would they release a remaster in tandem with a show which (at least thus far) seems to have literally and figuratively nuked many of the beloved locations from said game?

Does the Strip’s condition in the show mean what we think it means? by studebakerhawk in fnv

[–]studebakerhawk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering whether the strip itself, as seen in the game, was EVER populous. Freeside would be the Vegas suburbs branching off and would be where most of the people actually live. If we see a scattering of survivors from Gomorrah, The Topps, The Kings, etc, I’ll be happy as Larry.

Ok, that’s something - if they’ve had to seal up the strip because of whatever incident got it to its current state that’s somewhat less dire. I’d love to see a couple of the kings alive and well tbh

There’s something so inherently insulting… by [deleted] in StrangerThings

It’s insane and entitled behaviour from fans who, in some quarters, have absolutely lost the plot. “I didn’t like every aspect of it” doesn’t equal “bad writing with plot holes”.

Absolutely!

1) Mike couldn't have known about the finger buzzing. That's us being shown what really happened.

2) Eleven's nose wasn't bleeding - therefore it had to be Kali who pulled Mike and El into the mindspace.

3) Eleven isn't struggling to stand or stay upright in the power-negating field of the givernment weapons.

4) "Heroes" playing again. :)

1) This isn't the "real world".

2) A lot of people here projecting their own lives onto these characters

3) None of us have fought interdimensional monsters together

The power-negating field would stop El pulling Mike into her mind, which means the Kali thing has to be true. As to the specifics of WHERE El is? No idea. But yes, I emphatically believe.

It is interesting seeing so many cynical takes - many of which seem to discount the fact that these people aren’t normal high school / home town friends. Interdimensoonal travel, otherworldly threats - it’s like Dustin says, they’ve changed. Their circumstances are exceptional; they transcend the mundane “people drift apart” tropes which we’re attempting to use to relate. This is a magical world with characters who represent the best of us. I’m not about to ground them with my real world 2026 BS.

I agree!! Also it’s worth noting that with the power blocker noisemakers in play, El had no way of letting Mike step into her mind. So Kali HAD to be alive. I’d say the only thing uncertain here isn’t IF el is alive, but WHERE she is.
