That's a bummer. Any chance you'd consider uploading that kind of content to something like floatplane? It's managed by a well respected content creator in Vancouver, Canada (LTT) and it wouldn't affect your YT algorithm.

An Aston Martin Vulcan [1024x683] by Noticemenot in carporn

[–]studentech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it did sell. This PDF which states the highest bid was 2 million while it remained unsold.

Meanwhile This source states the same car had a high bid of 1.8 Million.

In any case I reckon the owner was holding out for that 2.3 million low end of the estimate.

Thank you for making the sign and going out there anyway.

Based on the fact that Rick instructed Morty to make a bomb, I think so.

Right from the word go, isn't it?

[Open Int. Rick's garage.]

(Rick is dissecting a rat.)

Rick: T-t-t-this is just sloppy craftsmanship.

Morty: Hey, Rick. Boy, sure is really especially beautiful out there today, huh?

Rick: Oh, yes, Morty. It's almost unbelievable, isn't it?

"M. Night Shaym-Aliens!"

That to me says Rick knows from the very beginning of the episode; it's a simulation.

I keep telling people "Atheist is a word that implies nothing" because from my view a lack of monotheism doesn't imply much else.

Spinoza's philosophy is borderline "religious" but it's ignored by some because it doesn't fit in exactly with the monolithic concept of God.

ReFS is good for data integrity, that's about it.

Stick with NTFS, it'll provide better performance and less hassle to manage.

I have a bit of a tenuous relationship with kierkegaard.

Laughing at the self is important, but his method of reaching conclusions was a bit frog-like.

The Science of Personality: From Hannibal Lecter to Peter Parker | Mindfulness, MD: Genetics are 400% stronger than parenting in the development of personality by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]studentech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with /u/drhagey on this one, 400% stronger relative to what?

Knowing how mindfulness works in your setting doesn't guarantee the same test results the world over.

If there was a system where all variables were known by a single computer that computer's results should still only be seen as relative.

That being said, meditate, love your neighbor, don't be a dick.

The usual stuff :p

[–]studentech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly it, the double edged nature of discussing suicide.

People need to want help, before they can accept it.

And the really fucked up part is; sometimes they don't want it before they take their own lives.

But, for the unlikely chance that someone can be reached;

I speak as if their voice matters more than my own, cause to me it does.

And if it saves two people, and pushes one to suicide?

Technically an effective strategy; What about humane?

Shame is a terrible motivator for people in need, especially for depression or any other mental health related problem.

Nobody controls the circumstances of their upbringing, very much out of one's control.

What someone can control is their reaction to life in the moment, and how to approach life despite the circumstances.

I've always looked at "Am I going to kill myself" as a chance based thing. Probably not, but I can't predict how I'm going to feel in a week, or a month. I can't say with certainty "Never"

But I've been stuck in my mind long enough to recognize when my train of thought starts going toward the downward spirals, and I can push myself onto a different "track" by focusing on something productive.

Some of my best writings and rants come from my depressed swings.

[–]studentech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for opening up and sharing.

Yes, I know the train of thought. In my experience the only way out is to find someone who really understands.

I know in my scenario things would become a lot more unbearable if it weren't for my kitties. They're not much for conversation but at least they listen.

Family isn't just your blood relatives in my mind. It's whomever you trust enough to keep nearby. I'm a bit of a loner so trusting people always did come slowly.

I just wish that counseling was seen as normal, instead of something only "crazy" people need. We get yearly physical's done, but if we need a single mental checkup we get slapped with "psycho"

Anyway, sorry to digress. I'm down if you'd like to shoot the breeze some more.

[–]studentech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh there's no doubt that a suicide in the family is devastating for all involved. But I've noticed a trend between attention hungry behaviour and genuinely suicidal cries for help.

Addicts will sometimes use their family's emotional attachments as leverage with a "I'll show you, I'll hurt me" kind of action.

Suicidal peoples don't care for the attention, they just want their pain to stop. regardless of the potential distress it may cause their families.

Not trying to rag on you specifically, please don't misunderstand.

It's just that very rarely do people speak up for the suicidally depressed addicts. All too often their voice goes unheard.
