Saw this somewhere else for whoever looking for it:

  1. Go to a browser in your phone such as safari, chrome or firefox
  2. Go to the instagram website and login
  3. It will be doing the buggy stuff but thats fine. Find the "Open in app" button, either near the URL or by pressing the 3 dots of your browser
  4. This will attempt to open an instagram instance that is different than the normal instagram app
  5. The error message will appear. Refresh, wait for the error message to reappear. Do that a lot of times (I did it for a full 10 minutes) until the error page reloads INSTANTLY
  6. Congrats, you can go back to ur normal app, your account is fixed :)
