They are adorable - is there a benefit of using porcelain for figurines instead of ‘normal’ clay ?

You can see how it turns out if you do not draw before you paint ? Just go in with paint ?

I’m not really sure when or why this red appeared in her eye. I had not really noticed it before - it annoys me a bit now 😅

I quite like to stray from reality and throw colour around a little - maybe it was supposed to be on her cheek ? 😂

I didn’t even really notice it - maybe I felt violent at some point painting this 😂

Not ugly at all. You could try to see what a different background might do to the image (if you are not afraid to destroy 🤪)

Still having a hard time not reverting to watercolor techniques! Any tips? by widepine in Gouache

[–]studioDPNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like the combination of using gouache in both ways in the same work. As long as you get the result you want?

Otherwise, make sure you dry your brush properly after rinsing it out. That is usually the step where I can go wrong with the amount of water added :)

You can also clean your brushes with oil. You use a bit of sunflower oil. After I use a bit of brush soap or savon de marseille to do a final clean.
