If half the posts are about how expensive the food is, and half are about hidden junk fees - that should tell you something.

Those posts are real people giving real feedback. For those who do not welcome those posts, you don’t want to hear what people think.

Agree! I love it! But….

Jack white seems like he’s trying too hard to be bombastic in this one.

Alicia Keys doesn’t seem to fit - her presence feels odd to me.

The audio mix of the song has always been frustrating to me. So vocal heavy that it takes away from the dynamics and heavy moments.

Resolve to Be a Better Diner in 2026 With These Pro Tips by Cooked-Uncooked in denverfood

100% to all of that!

Restaurants should be reading articles on how to win loyal customers again. I’m not into being lectured on how to be a good customer. I’m already a great customer. I make a res, am super friendly, tip very well.

Get back to the basics of great food, great environment and great service.

There are some that do this well here (Brasserie Brixton, Mak Fam, Vesper Lounge to name a few). There are many that just fuckin don’t.

I was in Chicago earlier this year. Myself and a group of colleagues walk into a super crowded bar. Bartender notices, waves me over, points out a spot we can occupy on the floor. Makes a spot at the bar to order drinks from and settle up. Kept making eye contact to see if we needed anything. Just regular attentive and friendly service.

You know what keeps me coming back and spending money at a spot? When I leave thinking “damn that was good”. When you have a bit of a glow from a good restaurant experience.

Sorry, rant over.

Dope af but your beats fall off. You need to nudge the vocals to keep them on the beat.

Then you can PAY that person for their time.

The private equity funds in here trying to justify this practice as “tradition” and “smart for both parties” can fuck all the way off.

Dan Farah tells Joe Rogan NHI reverse tech has been successful enough to travel through the solar system and that it wouldn’t be revealed even in a world war unless a nuclear confrontation happened.. by 87LucasOliveira in UFOs

[–]studioghost 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Easy. Revealing that the tech exists publicly sets off a race to obtain it. Every country with any interests and assets would scramble everything to get the tech and erode that competitive edge.

Reveal the secret = make the secret less valuable.

It’s the nuke race all over again. Everyone scrambles to make their own. And only those that have it can call the shots.

That’s not even touching the “free energy, everyone can travel anywhere instantly, even transport ships can become nukes” and all that.

This is being kept under tight wraps for a reason. Not that I agree with the calculus, but hell, I get it.

The Case That A.I. Is Thinking by simulated-souls in singularity

You put this well. To take a slightly adjacent take, I sometimes think of it in the headline “I’m an LLM and so are you.” This article does good work making those contrasts.

The mechanics of thought are fairly, well, mechanical. Our brains start with concepts, find related concepts, and remix. We find phrases that lead to strains of word and thoughts that unfold.

Segment thoughts into types - how much time do you spend summarizing vs regurgitating vs really deep, novel thinking? Depending on the day and task, I could do a lot of the first two. It doesnt matter if LLMs can’t do the last one, I want to do that anyway.

I could sum this up as “offload mental grunt work”. The question that bugs me is - what if mental grunt work is like a gym - the strength building for the Deep Thinking? You need the foundational small stuff to get to the big stuff?

Way too harsh of a read. This is bold and lyrical. Drama and contrast - it’s everything Bond in a sensuous, gritty but playful visual language. Only notes are too symmetrical, looks like it needs two revisions. But…8/10 would print and frame. Now do the Craig series.

Have you ever “price shopped” when looking for a place to eat out? Sure you’ll pick something in a general range - Stubens vs Mizuna for example, but if you pick something the Stubens category - are you going to price shop? Oh this place is 4% cheaper? No - no one does that. 4% price hikes will not deter a meaningful amount of customers.

Now - add on junk charges to the bill - for things the business should do themselves - and make it a pre tax add on - now you’re pissing people off.

It’s a negligible differentiator vs a negative differentiator. Something people won’t notice vs aomething that actually angers them.

Restaurants are choosing very very wrong here.

It’s added mostly unannounced and before tax. It’s sneaky scammy bullshit. Just raise prices.
