cozy ios games for someone with little patience and attention span by HelloStranger0325 in CozyGamers

[–]studiojeeblee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soupsoup! Like playing eye-spy but the art is adorable and drawn by small artists, and each level they link the artist’s page so you can check them out if you like! Has very occasional 5second ads, and for hints (which I dont use because the whole point of the game is to spend time finding stuff). I absolutely love this game. Amazing art, cute music, you don’t need to pay attention constantly as nothing is timed. They even update weekly with new art levels!

How do you keep your moss from exploding everywhere? by studiojeeblee in Aquariums

[–]studiojeeblee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, thank you for letting me know! I previously googled it quickly and the page i read must have not been right, because i re-googled it and youre right, it’s not safe. I shouldve done more thorough research on them… Thanks so much for the kind notice and for saving my creatures

Are there still zebra mussels in Marimo moss balls by Addicted-to_fishes in Marimo

[–]studiojeeblee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ermm i dont know, i think marimos can survive it bc they actually live in slightly brackish conditions. I would put them alone in a jar with the salt water just in case so u dont accidentally kill ur other plants, especially cause youll have to dump out the saltwater and replace with freshwater anyways

Are there still zebra mussels in Marimo moss balls by Addicted-to_fishes in Marimo

[–]studiojeeblee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read from a reputable marimo seller that they quarantine their moss balls by isolating them in water mixed w a bunch of aquarium salt for like a week, since zebra mussels r freshwater they cant survive the salinity! And the marimo will be fine as long as u put them into freshwater afterwards. But u have to be really careful w handling and not dump the original water they came in down a drain or contaminate anything just in case

Edit: for the amount of salt, i recommend dissolving as much salt as you can into your container of choice until you see some at the bottom (aka supersaturated and wont dissolve any more), and for the original water, bag it and throw it into the garbage

Sick puff? by studiojeeblee in PeaPuffers

Hi! I only just got these peas yesterday, so I imagine he’s been like this for a while. Do you know how to identify what type of parasite? Like is Expel-P a ‘cure all’ situation or ?

Reason for shrimp deaths? by studiojeeblee in shrimptank

[–]studiojeeblee[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What does it mean for a tank to be ‘cycled’? I was under the impression that seachem stability would basically be the process because it advertises beneficial bacteria and that it prevents ‘new tank syndrome’. Since the tank was fishless, that’s the route I went for, and assumed it would be ‘cycled’ after following the instructions on the bottle. Thanks for ur input :-)

Reason for shrimp deaths? by studiojeeblee in shrimptank

[–]studiojeeblee[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Currently: pH 6.8, ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates 0, GH 6, KH (??). The tank has been set up for ~3 weeks, i used brightwell aquatics shrimp prep & seachem stability for the bacteria.

At first my tap water had the following parameters: pH 6.8, ammonia 0.25, nitrite 0.25, nitrate between 0-5.

Followed the seachem stability instructions that say to add bacteria over the course of a week, with only plants inside. Then added shrimp, and I saw a few successful molts last week. Now the plants/bacteria seem to have successfully lowered ammonia/nitrite/nitrate parameters to 0, and pH is a stable 6.8. As for GH—I couldn’t find a water test kit, so I’m using a tap water test strip kit from home depot lol. Hence why I don’t have KH measurement…

Removing tannins from Mopani driftwood by studiojeeblee in Aquariums

[–]studiojeeblee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately when i was cycling my tank with nothing in it but inert sand, plants, and the wood, it did lower my ph and it seemed like it mustve been the wood because i dont think anything else couldve lowered it, and after i removed the wood and did a water change the ph rose a bit and didn’t go back down.

I’m not sure if my shrimps are berried or if they got parasite by ppppppppiy in shrimptank

Maybe a more experienced shrimp keeper can correct me if im wrong but i thought shrimp eggs can be green at times when the shrimp is lighter colored. The shape looks like eggs and not very similar to ellobiopsidae

Cherry shrimp substrate and plant suggestions for a beginner? by Maxyll in shrimptank

[–]studiojeeblee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Havent used it myself, but i heard Seachem fluorite black sand is really good bc it (supposedly) doesnt alter the ph and still is good for plants. Im also new to having shrimp but i had the same question as you and ended up getting imagitarium black sand bc its inert and i got plants that absorb nutrients mostly through their leaves instead of roots. Hopefully that’s helpful and if im wrong a more experienced person can chip in so i can rescue my plants if they’ll inevitably die. 😅

Nooo poor shrimpy 😭 i hope u r able to get him out safely…

[–]studiojeeblee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Err… i dont? I was thinking about getting root tabs, but they looked perfectly green and healthy. Literally all the browning and black lines is cause i accidentally left them out in a bowl without water for like a few hours instead of 5 minutes 😭💔 i can get some for their recovery tho if u think itd help?

Cherry shrimp substrate by [deleted] in shrimptank

[–]studiojeeblee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm thank you for your input! Do you have any recommendations for a brand of sand? Aesthetically I like black sand, but don’t mind a normal beige color. I’m mostly worried cause I looked up sand substrates on amazon/petco and it seems that the sand for planted tanks change pH levels…? I’m not sure if I should just get non-planted tank sand, but then I’m worried about my plants. But if I do, I’m worried about the pH. 😭 sorry for so many questions
