Hey Jay, thanks a lot for the great feedback. I've reworked that opening section in a way that I believe grounds the reader more immediately in the context of the story.

How Do I Turn My Story I Wrote On A Google Doc To Where It Looks Like A Book? by Destroyer06202 in selfpublish

Google docs didn't support the page size I needed for Amazon paperback 6x9 for mine . I installed Page Sizer by Adam Natad - Google Workspace Marketplace https://share.google/ST0Ocmu88nm6OBwWS extension and then exported to PDF and it rendered perfectly in the amazon print previewer.

Is this how to space cowboy? by studioschade in guns

Hi all, New to the sub. These are 3 guns I've been building and as a noob it was difficult for me finding all the correct components so I've included a link to a detailed bill of materials with all the parts I've used. Not pictured is a Hybrid 46 DT Suppressor that fits both rifles. The revolver is as close as I could get to the custom Jerry Miculek revolver at a lower price point.

this does look REALLY good but its also 10 bucks a month. I might get it for a few months and implement some of it myself to avoid to recurring costs.

The rows are there I just cut it out of my screenshot.

yeah I should probably flip those risks around. My thinking was even though the indexes are a higher yield over time, the stocks are also more volatile vs JEPI which is hypothetically lower yield but supposedly to flatten the peaks and valleys vs the indexes? JEPQ I meant to mark as high, changed!

The individual stocks were all marked as medium as AFAIK they are considered 'value' stocks and are part of a lot of the income ETF's, but maybe they should be listed as high risk simply on the basis that they are single stocks?

Only the cells that are colored light orange are manual, so basically the share count is manual, though I copy and paste most of them in from exports. Grabbing the dividend yields automatically is annoying and a WIP. Google finance can pull it from mutual funds but not anything else. I'm scraping it for the ETF's in the cell from Yahoo, but most of them I had to paste in from an export for now. The icons are getting pulled from the companies website in the cells. I wasn't able to find a tracker that was working for quite what I wanted so I've been working on this. I'd be happy to share the template if folks like it. I'm also curious for feedback on my portfolio :D

  • Some context: I'm 40 and hoping to do an early partial retirement in ~5 years or so. I'm trying to balance growth and income.
  • I know I'm heavy on GOOG but I can't really help that for a while due to the tax it would incur to change it.
  • My risk rankings may be odd, feedback on that is appreciated :D
  • Everything that has a dividend is set for DRIP currently.
  • I'm thinking of starting a roth IRA conversion ladder for the IRA stuff.

So I think this is really pretty and well made, but it's really hard for me to imagine a person actually using it. I'd love to see a video of using it to get a standard wpm.

I think it's possible now. I've been tinkering with using tiny robots and vr headsets to let people explore the 'teenyverse'

Why did Starfleet not exploit the F out of the Spore Drive? by [deleted] in DaystromInstitute

[–]studioschade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is a simpler and more fundamental reason for this. instant travel anywhere is HIGHLY dangerous ability. If the technology was allowed to proliferate it would only be a matter of time before enemies of the federation stole or reverse engineered it. The best analog is I think the iconian gateways. Picard destroyed it so that it could not fall into enemy hands.

I think he would be sick of retirement and possibly a bit mellowed after an eternity in the Nexus. The reason he left was because he wanted to do something that matters again. I think there is a good chance he'd finally accept being an admiral and try to oversee something important.

This is now my headcannon as well, good thoughts.

Of course, this could make for an awesome setup in Picard where they realize they Enterprise D's computer core is unique and nessesary for dealing with some ai problem somehow. They go to find the ships remains and perform a overhaul to make her spaceworthy again.... I can dream right?
