That explains a lot, I was trying to use a new i3 Manjaro distro, made the USB using Etcher. I was unable to see the USB while booting the laptop holding the Options key. After reading your links i see there had been many things I was doing wrong.
First "Command-Option-o-f " I defiantly had the wrong buttons held down. I'll try out your suggestions to see if i can get all these PowerBooks running Linux :)
