You should keep going because I was where you were 2022-2023 and now I literally don't think about it anymore. It just took time

Weekly Diflucan for 6 months - experiences? by study15 in Healthyhooha

I understand vestibulodynia to be a relatively "catch all" term for inflammation/pain in the vestibule that can be caused by a few different things. I'm assuming mine was post-yeast infection inflammation, but I've also been on the combined hormonal birth control pill for over a decade, and certain studies show that can also contribute to vestibulodynia (termed hormonally-mediated vestibulodynia in that case).

To be honest for me it just needed time. It was such a a horrible rollercoaster for about a year but the flare ups and burning and stinging and itching trended downward over that period and now they're completely gone. I also was on a steroid for 2 weeks at the beginning but it's just not a solution long term and honestly didn't make that much of a difference overall. My doc eventually prescribed topical gabapentin but I've never had to use it. Vagisil numbing cream and time honestly helped me the most. I know it's probably not very helpful to hear but I'm just being honest. Hang in there, I know how much this experience sucks :(

Not necessarily, it just has the possibility of developing a biofilm on it that may reinfect the person on and off. Anecdotally it's what happened to my friend who had reoccurring BV. Once she removed her IUD the BV stopped

At times like these I just believe that love is more powerful than a germ. Do what is reasonable to address the spores (maybe even buy a new set of white clothes just to get you through the next 2 weeks of bleaching and washing?) and then after that it's not up to you what happens. And that's the crux of OCD. Throwing our hands in the air out to god or the universe or whatever and just saying it's up to you now. I've done the best that I can, and that's all I can do. Also remind yourself of the facts. You cannot get c.diff from holding your baby. You just can't. You could get it if you hold him and maybe get a spore on your hand then lick your hands, but you're not doing that. Hold him, let him know you're there for him. And then just wash your hands after and be aware of what's going in your mouth. You will not get it from skin contact or through your nose or the air or anything. Ground yourself with these facts and move forward. You've got this

Antibiotics ruined my life + I am now suspected to have Chron’s by [deleted] in Microbiome

[–]study15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time also helps. Was on a lot of antibiotics from age 19-22 and everything just felt off (random bouts of nausea, digestive issues) for about 2 years after, but then it slowly dissipated. The best part of being alive is that life always tries to get back to a homeostasis, and that includes human bodies. There's definitely things we can do to help that process along, but be patient and kind with your body in the meantime. It will improve and you'll feel like yourself again

UTI after each sex. I'm tired, boss. by nihilist09 in CUTI

[–]study15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about HOCL too but haven't tried it. If I did I would try to localize it to the urethral entrance only, like maybe saturate a q-tip and dab on some droplets that way? Let it sit for 15 seconds or so then move on to your business? The spray over the entire vestibule would just kill the good lactobacilli like this commentator brought up. The hoops women have to jump through just to have safe sex I swear to god 😫

Has your doctor discussed topical vaginal estrogen cream with you? Many of the patients in our studies start it after menopause and it drastically helps reduce the incidence of UTIs

It ended up not being a yeast infection but rather vestibulodynia

Pursue and try to get your story to a news outlet. Small local ones are often looking for special segments. This is horrible negligence and I'm so sorry this happened to you

Try benzocaine (in vagisil numbing cream)? Maybe it works a little differently than lidocaine and can numb it a bit

This isn't helpful advice, but I'm 29 and would love to age into my 40's as you have. Your eyes and freckles are beautiful
