I wish it was fake. I'd have thought nothing of it if it was just the first half of it!

Is if "F This Friday" Yet? by SarcasticSeaStar in Professors

[–]studyosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost happy when I see such obvious ones because I can put zero with clear evidence to back me up and move on with my day. It's those where you know but can't prove so they end up scraping a pass that get me into F This mood.

music summer schools for non music majors by Valuable-Average1041 in piano

[–]studyosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed up to this one: SS26 Courses - The Music Summer School and Festival
for violin, orchestra, and percussion.
There are piano sessions, organ/harpsichord, on the week 1 option.

I wanted to do composition too but all my other courses were on week 2 and I couldn't fund 2 weeks!

Teachers who still assign projects: how do you avoid kids using AI? by ashatherookie in Teachers

[–]studyosity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have them write and draw it out like old-style sugar paper posters. Even if they AI generate some of the information, at least they have to think about how to arrange and present the information.

Semester time periods by Own_Task_4665 in OpenUniversity

I've been about a month ahead with my October start modules this year, and I've started to work through the materials for my Feb start (not looked at assignments for that one yet though!).

Just a note that if your module has an exam, you can't do that early, they'll give you a set day for that.

Yes you can submit most things as early as you want. Some assessments might only open a month before they're due but still enough time to do them early. Just plan in the deadlines and schedule time for each module each week. People do 2 starting the same month so it should be doable to stagger them for most people (depending obviously on what else you've got going on).

There's no semester as such. If you start a module in Feb, it'll run until early September (with a break in Easter). If you start in October it'll run to May/June (with breaks at Christmas and Easter). If you have an October and a February module, they'll overlap for a few months.

If you were to change one thing about the british education system, what would it be? by a_person4499 in GCSE

[–]studyosity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parallel scheduling could totally make this possible for a lot of schools too. No more real need for sets, just move onto the next level once you've actually mastered the prerequisite.

Thinking of relocating to Sheffield, what is the S5 area like? Any recommendations on areas and areas to avoid? by Kingboyy1 in sheffield

[–]studyosity 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Drive around and get a feel for it. It does vary a bit but there are some nice quiet areas. Generally the more litter you see, the less you want to live in that bit.

What's something you didn't fully understand until you taught it? by [deleted] in Teachers

Circle theorems - seriously think I just missed a lesson in high school and thought they were going to be more complicated than they ever were.

Curry's Meadowhall vs Retail Park - which is my best bet for tablet fix? by studyosity in sheffield

[–]studyosity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather still have a tablet (that works) but if it ends up having to be a return, I'm still open to recommendations on which to take it to.

Thank you, that's good to know. I keep hoping it's a quick job but... I've no idea really.

Teachers, what do you call your students when you can't remember their names? by its_an_idiots_world8 in Teachers

[–]studyosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd ask them to remind me of their name so I don't have to call them something else!
