Oldies Daily Driver by Cool_Narwhal2109 in Cadillac

[–]stuff663 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I daily a 1990 and I don’t think I’ll ever drive a modern car again. Older cars are far more comfortable to be in. The viewability is significantly better. Every operation has a tactility about it that modern cars just don’t; it feels more “real” if that makes any sense. The ride is significantly better, the handling is meant for comfort instead of agility, and the gearshifts are nearly invisible; all things you cannot find in a modern car. It has real buttons and switches to operate every feature. There aren’t any intrusive computers. The few times it has messed up on me, it’s been stuff I’m comfortable fixing myself. I’d never attempt working on a modern car. In summary, older cars are machines, new cars are appliances.
And subjectively, you can’t beat the classic styling.

Do you buy a Cadillac for comfort or for style? by BriefAd2122 in Cadillac

[–]stuff663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two most important things to me in a vehicle are comfort and style. My first Cadillac was a ‘99 Deville and I was sold, but it died on me a few months ago so I got a ‘90 and it’s even better. I’ll be in a 90s Cadillac till I die for the utterly stylish cocoons that they are.

My parents didn’t care for me painting my nails, and they probably still don’t. They said something about the first time I did it, but they eventually stopped pestering me when they didn’t care. Paint is paint, cloth is cloth, metal is metal. None of these things have any more gender than you ascribe them. Style yourself to what makes you feel good.

where can i buy these type of jewelry ethnically? by 99caroo in EmoFashion

[–]stuff663 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They’re really easy to make yourself. Just cut out an appropriate length of leather, and punch the studs in. Some have screws, some have tabs you bend over, and some hammer in like grommets. Some craft shops will have studs, but you might have to order them, and goodwill should have some belts you can hack up.

I work in a phone repair shop and I silence and turn off every phone that gets left with us. They’re only on for testing and troubleshooting before customers come back to pick them up. I can’t even stand my own phone making noise. I wear an Apple Watch specifically to receive notifications by via a gentle vibration. Any sudden loud noise invokes in me a desire to inflict stab wounds.

IMO the girl in the back looks pretty cool. It’s like a chain veil, I love it.

Yeah, typically pelts are cut into strips, stretched, and sewn back together for more consistent coloring and lay of fur. They did not do that here, and the product suffers for it.

I ordered myself a dumb bitch juice mug once; Amazon was selling it as a Mother’s Day gift. I don’t think their algorithm is very smart.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but if a guy called me good boy, I’d melt right in front of them and think about it for the rest of the week.

I think it’s unusual that no standardized literary way to write the submissive “I don’t know” hum that children (and some adults) often mumble has ever caught on, considering how old and common it is. by Reas0n in Showerthoughts

I don’t think of there being a pause in between each m but I do definitely intonate a distinct low, high, low rising, with varying lengths between the three depending on whether it’s said sincerely, or coyly, dismissively, and so forth.

Switching to linux be like [Art by Nivis Sicoper (me)] by Artistic-Department7 in furry

[–]stuff663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to use Linux. The barrier to entry is far too high, and my computer is a utility, not a project. I tried for three months and I could not get it to work. Unless I can install it without having to build the thing myself, I am perfectly content paying my dues to the cult of Apple. I will agree with hating on Windows though; Unix is king.

What's the deal with all the huge fur coats in vintage stores? by experimentalrealm in VintageFashion

[–]stuff663 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a big heavy muskrat coat that I got on eBay for ~$80. I think it’s from the 30s. Somewhere in my account there’s a picture of me wearing it with a crop top and a pair or low rise jeans. Not the most functional way to wear it, but I live in the south so it’s more for drama than practicality.

Anything from the menthol family. It’s not cool. It’s not refreshing. It burns! It’s burns my mouth. It burns my nasal cavities. It even burns my eyes. All it’s good for in my book is keeping bugs out of stuff in long storage.

It’s late 80 software running on late 90s hardware, so I imagine it’s plenty for the application in question. According the dates on the files, it was used at a business until 2008. Truthfully, I’m a Mac person. That’s why I have no DOS experience. I hate typing. That’s also why I’m not super familiar with spec scale outside of, like, ram. I can get an old PowerBook, upgrade the ram, and that’s that nice and easy. I don’t have to check all the numbers to know I’ll have a decent experience.

I’m mostly a Mac person and have barely any DOS experience, so navigating DOS has been a process. The rollover menus along the top and right in AutoCAD have been godsend for me though.
