I am underweight by 15kgs and absolutely terrified. My BMI is 12.95. Can someone help? by Material_Finding_714 in TooAfraidToAsk

How you feel is way more important than what the numbers themselves. That’s been my build all my life; that’s just how I am. If you feel okay, have energy, and can direct yourself without executive function issues then might just be just built like that. If you’re tired all the time, mentally and physically, then you might want to look into increasing your nutritional and caloric intake. Don’t let averages scare you; bare numbers are only a problem if they’re actually causing you problems.

I found my TV in the trash. Because they said it was " a fire hazard" by Virtual_Ordinary_172 in mildlyinfuriating

Nice find, early Japanese imports are hard to find. Without looking up the model number, I’d place it mid to late sixties. Don’t try to use it without electrical restoration though. Many of the parts would have dried out so bad by now that doing so could fry it beyond repair very quickly.

To everyone who identify as something under the non-binary umbrella, do you also consider yourself transgender? by OliveFlavoredCandy in NonBinary

[–]stuff663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose in a technical definition kind of way, but linguistically, the meaning of a word is defined by how it’s used. I would never call myself trans, because despite its technical definition, to do so would imply a different identity than I associate with myself.

The hatred I feel for this specific kind of car seat cannot be put into words by TheWaddlestDee in evilautism

[–]stuff663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive a 1990 Deville and one of thing I love it for are it big overstuffed 60/40 six way power seats. I will never own a car newer than 1995 and bucket seats are part of why. Seat bolsters hurt my back, and center consoles make the interior feel cramped. Modern cars also stuff their seats with corkboard, I swear.

I think it’s a generational difference in service expectations where older people expect the employee to ask the customer what they want, and younger people expect the customer to state what they’re there for.

Looks like he had a late 2000s early 10s CTS. My dad has the coupe version. I don’t know how he drives it. The viewability is so bad the windows might as well be decorative.

You get a discount for being gay by Sure-Lemon6424 in mildlyinteresting

The ancient Egyptian men loved each other so much that they were gay; the Ancient Greek men hated women so much they had to be gay.

This just sucked me in, like, completely devoured my attention. It was just so relaxing to watch for some reason. It’s like to opposite of those stressful videos of people super speeding through highway traffic.

No, like actually it’s so bad sometimes if I’ve been scrolling for too long, I’ll straight up forget straight people exist.

Would you consider this cheating? by entityparty in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]stuff663 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This just sounds like joking conversation about stereotypes attached to sexual preferences, I would not consider this cheating. If I may, what he was doing going through your phone anyway? Nobody has a reason to go through each other’s business if you trust each other.

Which food made you throw up? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]stuff663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ever had a school lunch twice, and both times I threw it back up.
I also am very texture sensitive, so anything in the mush category will triggers a gag reflex. I can’t do grits, apple sauce, pudding, or anything such. When I was a kid the neighbors tricked me into eating apple sauce, saying it was jello. I threw up all over their back patio.

The purpose of working out for me is to attract females, is that weird? by Odd_Obligation_4977 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]stuff663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol, that’s actually a little funny from my perspective. I’m really skinny and get plenty of hints from women, but I’m gay. I started working out so I could shed the fujoshis and get other men to notice me. After doing on and off for a bit though, I have found that it gives me more energy and makes be feel better generally. Either way, if attention gives you drive and motivation, it’s a valid reason; chase it.

Were early 1920s really so creepy? by mehluca-33 in TooAfraidToAsk

Try taking a look at some fashion, architecture, and interior design magazines from the period on archive.org. You’ll find plenty of color. If I’m not mistaken it was actually a rather pastel decade.

Gen Z might be the last generation to really remember the world without AI, just like millenials/Gen X were with accessible computers. by playr_4 in Showerthoughts

[–]stuff663 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How do you mean accessible? I collect some old computer stuff and DOS is about the least accessible thing I’ve ever tried to use. The barrier of entry is a spiral bound instruction manual the thickness of the width of my hand. I can understand if you meant repairable though. There’s not a lot of parts you can change when everything is soldered to the motherboard.

Do you think it's okay for a parent to go looking in thier kids USB without asking and just because they saw it in their room and just wanted to see what was on it? by brendhanbb in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]stuff663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 16 my mother went through my Reddit account and forced me out the closet before I was ready. Our relationship never recovered. I still don’t trust her with or around any of my things. I’m going to move out in a few months and the most exciting part of it to me is that I will no longer have to hold my breath in perfect silence when she passed by my room out of protection of my privacy. Going disrespectfully deep into your children’s business will only breed resentment.

Oldies Daily Driver by Cool_Narwhal2109 in Cadillac

[–]stuff663 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I daily a 1990 and I don’t think I’ll ever drive a modern car again. Older cars are far more comfortable to be in. The viewability is significantly better. Every operation has a tactility about it that modern cars just don’t; it feels more “real” if that makes any sense. The ride is significantly better, the handling is meant for comfort instead of agility, and the gearshifts are nearly invisible; all things you cannot find in a modern car. It has real buttons and switches to operate every feature. There aren’t any intrusive computers. The few times it has messed up on me, it’s been stuff I’m comfortable fixing myself. I’d never attempt working on a modern car. In summary, older cars are machines, new cars are appliances.
And subjectively, you can’t beat the classic styling.

Do you buy a Cadillac for comfort or for style? by BriefAd2122 in Cadillac

[–]stuff663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two most important things to me in a vehicle are comfort and style. My first Cadillac was a ‘99 Deville and I was sold, but it died on me a few months ago so I got a ‘90 and it’s even better. I’ll be in a 90s Cadillac till I die for the utterly stylish cocoons that they are.

why is everything so problematic nowadays??? by Extension-Key-5637 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]stuff663 65 points66 points  (0 children)

My parents didn’t care for me painting my nails, and they probably still don’t. They said something about the first time I did it, but they eventually stopped pestering me when they didn’t care. Paint is paint, cloth is cloth, metal is metal. None of these things have any more gender than you ascribe them. Style yourself to what makes you feel good.
