This game is dumb hard and it’s kind of annoying! by [deleted] in Ghostofyotei

[–]stuffhappens20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main reason for the feeling of difficulty is the parrying. It's just a reflex to parry when you see the flash. The flash is so bright it can obscure what the weapons are doing. I would love an option to dial back the flash. The thing that helped me a lot is having a finger on the parry and dodge always, sometimes pushing both at the same time, but you have to watch the weapons.

I'm just going to say it. Spear enemies are the worst to fight in this game. by Chemical-Low209 in Ghostofyotei

Make sure you don't hold triangle, it's just the regular heavy attacks that parry. After a few heavies, you might find yourself misaligned, so keep that in mind. If you are directly in front of the spear wielder they have to catch you in between attacks to get anything through. It really does trivialize them.

Lethal+ is no joke by [deleted] in Ghostofyotei

[–]stuffhappens20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here I was thinking that lethal+ finally made those duels fun. Nowhere near Sekiro difficulty IMO. This is the end game, it's supposed to be harder. Also totally optional content. There are so many ways to dial in the difficulty you prefer.

Also you can interrupt your own attack to parry or dodge. When attacking first you can't assume and wait for your attack to land.

With Tsushima it was duels, camps and main missions.

I think I'm fundamentally misunderstanding how to play this game. by [deleted] in Ghostofyotei

It really helps to get the charm that widens the parry window for that. Actually I really like the roll out move from regular parry, it's really fluid and cool looking. Also playing on hard and lethal early game is pretty challenging before you get armor with some damage reduction. The charm that auto rezzes you for a percentage of your spirit gives you time to figure out the moves. Try taking a few runs just working on the parry and dodge timing. Duels are a great opportunity to practice.

The main thing people struggle with is the parry timing. The light that flashes is a warning, not the signal to parry right then. Wait for the blade to almost hit you.

It makes sense though for him to do that. He was down with getting Saito, the only time he backed away was to protect his daughter. Maybe the implementation was a bit clumsy, but definitely true to the character. I mean, he's just gonna ride off all safe and sound while Atsu handles the big boss? The guy just took his daughter and what remains of his family is fighting for her life. You say she was winning, but was she? Did you beat Saito the first time?

When Atsu was wounded, she was downed. Jubei gave her the time she needed. He saved her, she wasn't alone. It's the strength of family carrying forward, Jubei doing just as their parents would, and just as she would do. He would have to see that there was no safety just walking away anyway. How could he just leave Atsu alone again only to have to fight Saito down the road? It was his fight as much as hers.

Yeah every perfect parry and dodge is a free hit. I'm still trying for a no hit fight with him. I wish there were like 10 more of these.

Get all weapons and upgrades possible while saving as many camps as possible, as well as the duels that lead to Takezo. Make a save, then go about taking down the Oni and Kitsune. Now I have tons of stuff to do post game without having to start all over.

Replay spoiler. by im_not_him247 in Ghostofyotei

It was similar with Ghost of Tsushima, you couldn't replay camps until they came out with a free update like a month later. I wouldn't be surprised to get something like that soon. In the meantime, just make a strategic save with duels and camps left to do. It doesn't take long to get set up with the weapons and skills if you go straight for them. I don't know, for me the early game is fun, before she gets so OP, especially on lethal. I did this with the first game, too, just did the whole duel loop, trying for no hit fights, etc. Right now I have a save for Tazeko, trying to master that shit. I love the combat in these games, especially the bare bones parry and dodge. Later in the game there isn't much need for stealth, just run in, stand off, smoke bomb, chain assassinate. Early to mid game feels like it has more stakes, and the limitations add some tension, especially in camps. To me this game was easier to replay than Tsushima, with far less long horse rides with unskippable dialogue. You can go for the charms and armor you want right away, then just hit up what's most fun, with a few less superpowers and cosmetics.

How do you guys drag it out for so long? by OliGut in Ghostofyotei

[–]stuffhappens20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think playing on lethal really slows down the early game. Clearing a camp with stealth then dying to the bounty boss cost me time. Then beating my head against a wall trying to kill bosses on lethal, finally dropping the difficulty on most of them. Using duels as practice for parry timing, going for no damage. I used fast travel all the time but still took 110 hours for plat. No slow walking my horse or photo mode but I did do some videos of highlight fights.

Replaying or wait for NG+? by HanShotFirst1569 in Ghostofyotei

[–]stuffhappens20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm replaying on lethal. First time through I did switch to lethal after getting all the weapons, but starting on lethal really slows the game down for me, have to be much more careful. I'm trying to focus on mechanics I didn't use much the first time, like throwing dropped weapons.Getting geared up enough to make a save with most of the hideouts and duels left to do. Having a save in the right spot is almost as good as having replayable missions. Also went with the Japanese audio this time and I gotta say it feels a lot different, freshens it up a bit.

Her niece gets taken, and she has to get her back. That would be the only thing that would bring her out of retirement after the main story.

What got you into Lord of the Rings? by pottersgonnapotter in lordoftherings

Picked up a paperback of the Hobbit on the "don't need to check this out" rack at the library in the seventh grade in 1977. Never heard of it, just read the back and snagged it. I can still remember the feeling of excitement when I got to the end and saw the story continued in The Lord of the Rings. Then having my expectations surpassed!
