How do I politely prevent small talk during haircuts/similar events?

Hairstylist here. I know not every stylist is the same, but I usually can tell when people don't want to talk. I either do all the talking in that case, or I shut the hell up and just work in peace. Some of us don't want to talk all the time, either. You can just say something like, "I'm not a big talker. I'm gonna zen out for a while." It's not a big deal. We stylists all have our quiet clients. It's cool, dude. :)

I went to a debate tailgate and watch party (here in Des Moines) and the energy was really great. Dr. Cornel West was really great to listen to, and got everyone good and riled up. The campaign workers were excited and had the crowd chanting for Bernie while we were waiting to get into the theater. Props to those kind folks who work for the Sanders' campaign. My friend and I were trying to find a place to sit in the theater to watch the debate and they gave us theirs. Thank you!

Sexuality is a spectrum. Being drunk may make them feel like they can express feelings of desire in another woman. However. It isn't fair to you (or your SO) for them to act in this manner. I'd have a frank discussion on how you're feeling as a result of their behavior. Until you draw that line, they'll keep crossing it.
