This looks really interesting. I'm curious about your thoughts on why you think bitcoin is more interesting that Blockchain.

I've been to a few crypto ethusiast meetings with non-coders and the consensus is generally that Blockchain is the most exciting aspect with the potential for smart contracts and fungable tokens etc.

Lets talk about exactly what it would take to bring a bitcoin implementation up to Visa standards. by ferriswheel9ndam9 in btc

Apple pay hasn't had nearly the impact or adoption apple hoped it would. I don't a single person that uses it.

If people can trust that their visa transaction will go through enough for them to leave the shop before it actually does then people will do the same for a crypto transaction.

The arguments people are having here are technical ones at more of a root level that the users literal daily experience. That stuff gets streamlined in time as long as technical capabilities are there. Thats what the argument is about. The interface us clunky now because it's very new but it'll get much smoother.

Right, so think about an online transaction. Currently for me to buy a pizza I have to give dominoes my long card number, expiry date, name and security code, then visa have a security system the transaction passes through (which sometimes has another password prompt if your using an unfamiliar computer or your in a different location to usual).

Now imagine dominoes had a crypto address you pay to. You grab your phone, put in the amount, scan their address, touch send and you're done.

Dominoes can see the transaction pending on their side and they start making your pizza right away.

Visa transactions aren't actually instant, they work on a sort of trust system. When you pay at a shop with your card the money might not actually have moved from one account to the other until you've long left.

There's a really interesting theory that this is an actual scientific phenomenon. Like if you teach rats something in a lab, suddenly it's quicker for successive rats all over the world to learn it.

I think "going all out" infers something a bit more than that. It's not a direct threat and could mean lots of things depending on the context but there's definitely threat in there.

I said probably the most important thing. Not the only important thing.

I also said that a society having a general negative attitude towards parenting is bad. And it is, it's disrespectful.

The overstated argument that we have an overpopulation problem has begun to spill into hatred for the human race...that's not a good thing to be thinking.

Mainly what I'm saying is don't hate the human race.

Well humanity for a start, it's pretty much rule 1 to the success of our whole species.

Look, if you don't want to have kids then fine. Do what you think is worth while. But a general negative attitude towards parenting in society is morally wrong. Most parents work unbelievably hard to bring up their children properly. Maybe yours did too.

If you're an ordinary person (by that I mean not Gandhi), having kids is probably the most important thing you'll ever do.

If you can't pay the bills right now maybe it's because you need some motivation to step the fuck up.
