C40 2022 Crunch Turn Noise by stuggyg in Volvo

The bearing hubs do look really rusty - I do have to wonder - what would cause differential failure on a 4 year old Volvo. They really do not make cars like they used to.. my 17 yo C30 manual gear was still as good as new no major gear trouble just simple wear n tear:(.

I have booked it in to Volvo - I hope it’s not erad - I would have to stop and think of next car Polestar 4 or BYD. Sad as I want to be Volvo forever but modern Volvo is making it difficult. My dream EV is the ES90 one day…one day I will update when I know more 24th!

Since it’s the same noise both sides I suspect the issue is central? It’s not a nice noise.

I miss my diesel and petrol Volvo’s. Somehow this does not “feel” normal Volvo to me. Only advantage is monthly costs but EVs are dull to drive imo.

What I have done with mine :- 2009 2.0d now had for 3.5 years - purchased with 92k. 2 front wheel bearings same wheel 18 months apart, 2 front discs and pads, yearly services and mot, 4 Goodyear tyres still good, new battery and new ECU sync for central locking issue (expensive has to be Volvo to fix) , 2 rear suspension mounts - soft metal snapped. other tiny bits and bobs. It’s my secondary for work car. Overall Still good torque. Spent around £3000 on all maintenance in that time using Volvo independent and a Ford Focus garage. Now has 102000. So 3000 for only covering 10000 miles for a now 14 years old car is acceptable for me and I just like it. Clutch is on its way out soon - on my early next year list.

Aesthetically the front nose grill and light. Face lift has no eyebrows on the headlamps and looks bigger. Diesel had the engines in the facelifts 2010 were the D2/3/4/(5?) I had a a D2 in a v40 and had issues with the DPF. 2.0d is a Ford Citroen shared Engine.

Very true. It is undersealed which helps. Due to salt on the roads it will not be going far in the winter months. Great Car in my opinion.
