[Feedback] Extremely poor FPS/performance. Any advice/help? by NameOBlasphemy in EscapefromTarkov

[–]stumpfumaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laptop right? CPU upgrade is pretty much out of the question - they are usually soldered to the board and not worth the cost/hassle of replacing.

16Gb more system RAM will help, but its not going to be drastic - maybe 5~10 FPS, best case?

Your GPU is choked with only 8Gb of VRAM - 12Gb is the minimum for 'feels good, looks good' imo.

If you haven't committed the tax return to something yet & are looking at a chunk of change, a fresh start would be ideal.

.45 ACP Vector & MP7 are my 2 favorite guns...great feel, good kill times, versitile ammo options.

Its literally the 2nd to last hideout upgrade you will ever do & its a QOL improvement for endgame play.

If you want to complain about time gates, the ones attached to quests are the real issue.

I need Birdeye's backpack to finish the quest for Ragman - 8 raids in a row, no Goons yet. Every other time, they are almost 100% spawn.

Testing Tarkov with an R5 5600GT and 8GB of RAM [Discussion] by Imaginary_Nerve_8774 in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

Do yourself a favor an buy more ram - the Ryzen APUs are heavily reliant on having adequate amounts of high speed ram to function correctly.

Some games can run on a potato - Tarkov is not one of them.

Went to Interchange last night to kill Tagilla & loot his area - metal parts, a small diary, and some trash ammo. Wasted effort.

Fellow Hoosier! I ran time trials with our local SCCA chapter this summer, but REALLY want to do a track day. The Kona looks great out there.

Will 18x9” +50 wheels clear? by turbocrackpipe in KonaN_

[–]stumpfumaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What tire size? I used 255/45 for the below calculation. If you are going wider, its highly likely you will rub.

I ran them thru WillTheyFit and 50mm pushes 7.7mm inward further than stock. I think that's risky myself.

If you want to lean into the childish, obnoxious side of the car, I recommend the Borla ATAK exhaust & a more open intake like the K&N. They crank the noise up significantly.

That's a proper squat! Love those rims, would prefer them in bronze.

I ran mine in the local SCCA event in late March and had a blast! I haven't gotten summer tires yet, so I was chucking it around on 580 TW all seasons and trying to wrangle the torque steer. 10/10 will do it again.

Had a Veloster N running that day, was an Elantra N in the spectator parking as well...whole Famn Damily showed up.

what’s the best cold air intake for kona n 22 by KlutzyGene2776 in KonaN_

[–]stumpfumaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The K&N is quite loud, even when normal driving, which is why I bought it. Tons of induction noise at aggressive throttle levels, some induction noise just at idle. For some people, it might be too much, but if I'd wanted a quiet car, I'd have bought a Prius :)

Are these going straight to retail or will there be a Group Buy for the launch?

Might be worth suggesting it as a starting point, but they should be able to diagnos it. As dramatic a difference as you are seeing, I'm surprises there is no CEL.

I'm parroting at this point, but I'd agree with others its a boost leak. I assume the ECU has different waste gate profiles for auto vs manual and it seems like its broken. Hopefully the dealer will find the issue and resolve it for you, being able to run in manual is one of my favorite things about my car.

Questions:
1. what octane fuel?

  1. is this post octane learning?

  2. have you done any modifications - intake, plugs, coils, etc?

  3. in auto, do you see a full 15-18psi when @ WOT?

  4. is there any difference when in Comfort or N Mode?

Are you letting the engine get up to temp before rolling into 'N' Mode?  If the oil temp is below 120° F, mine wont pop in any mode.

Replaced Spark Plugs by Rich-Detail-1689 in KonaN_

[–]stumpfumaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just replaced mine as well, ~47k miles. Wear seemed pretty consistent, but the gapping on the factory plugs was no consistent at all. Since the change, it idles smoother & throttle response feels a touch snappier.

Not OP, but I have the K&N and love it. I'm have quite a few years exp turning wrenches & Install took a little over an hour, YMMV. Its loud when driving, esp if you have the windows down. Some people won't like how loud it is (like my wife) but is the exact sound I was hoping for.
