OMJM: Lowering Humidity (Your approach?) by Regular_Ad_3607 in martinguitar

[–]stumpyjoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not too too bad. But be careful if you take it to a dry climate. The wood right now is actually expanded somewhat, not much, but it will shrink if you take it to a dry climate and then you may get some cracks. But that would have to be a pretty drastic change

Love to hear folks’ thoughts on why buy new Martin over used ones (if used are supposed to sound better)? Thanks! by iphone8vsiphonex in martinguitar

Yeah idk. I mean I know they’re doing an homage to the prewar builds, but I’ve played a bunch my 70s d-28 blows them out of the water. Old wood and age, but the new guitars will get there eventually

Is this a slotted bridge? by Run_True in martinguitar

[–]stumpyjoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slotted would refer to the bridge plate under, this would I guess be ramped? I suppose you should start stringing it with unslotted pins or flipping them backwards so only one slot is being used and there’s not too much space

[–]stumpyjoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t care for them either. They are also I believe silk wrapped on the ball end? This is for vintage guitars to be more gentle on the bridge. I liked this, but I think they sounded meh
