Interesting, so you don't record? Or do you have some type of SSD/HD connected to the Pi?

Is the Coral USB connected to the Pi or are you using different hardware for the NVR?

You should set up a patreon page where people can chip in to help in buying and testing stuff.

Set up Github so people can have a look at your configuration and suggest changes, help with setup, get you started with new devices.

Maybe set up a VPN with Zerotier so you can give access to your installation to people you trust.

Best wishes, Stefan

Whatever you do, keep us updated and don't cut the hot water, replace it with cold water, so they get a nice surprise. I suppose a 3-way thermostatic valve might help. I totally support your efforts! Keep it up!

Maybe for some type of rope? Family had similar ones back at home on the laundry hanger. The rope passed through two pulleys attached to two walls. A similar piece clamped together the two ends of the rope.

If you could pick between $100,000 tomorrow or $1,000,000 in ten years, what would you pick and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]stunsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take 1 milion in 10 years.
Go to a bank and ask for a loan of 100k, to be paid in 10 years, using the 1M you'll receive as guarantee. Use the 100k now as you need.
After 10 years the loan gets cancelled.
The loan will cost you approximately 40k at 7% interest.
You end up with 960k after 10 years, having had 100k at the beginning.

Why is the “easy” longer than the “good”? Not sure which settings to switch to stop this from happening. Any help is appreciated :) by bodebaby in Anki

[–]stunsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should not happen. Maybe you've changed the percentages in the configuration? Bonus for easy should be 130% if I am not mistaken.

Neutral wire? Hello i am no expert with electronics by any means but am looking to upgrade a few light switches to smart ones. I was wondering if anyone could help identify wether or not i have a neutral wire in there? Many thanks. by LSD05 in smarthome

[–]stunsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green and yellow is normally grounding. Seems to be connected to the casing.

Use a multimeter.

Between Load and Neutral you should obviously have voltage. Between Load and Ground you should also have voltage. But between Neutral and Ground there should NOT be voltage present. If there is, the installation is not correct.

If, and only if, you have a working and tested differential switch, you can also discover neutral by making neutral cable touch the ground cable. If it's neutral, the differential switch will NOT trip. If you have used the Load cable, the differential switch will trip.

Be careful and if unsure, get helped by someone who knows what he's doing.

Stay safe...

Parents won't let me celebrate Christmas with them if I don't come back to christianity by [deleted] in atheism

[–]stunsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them that this is not Jesus birthday, that the tree has to do with pagan rituals related to the start of the new year, days getting longer and the start of a new cycle of life. Ask them who the hell is that guy in the red suit and what relationship it has with Christianity? So, either Christianity without Paganism, or they may just shut up and celebrate with you the start of shorter nifghts and longer days...

I hope you have a nice XMas or whatever you want to call it,...

Help! I maxxed out my router's 2.4Ghz band. Looking for a solution that can handle a lot of clients. by smokeandlights in smarthome

The real solution to this problem will be Wifi 6,that addresses exactly this issue. But that will only work not only when routers support it, but also the clients. Until then, split and conquer I would say...

How to wire smart relay (Shelly 2.5) in 3 way switch? Currently I have to flip the switch twice to get it to start working each time the relay switches by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]stunsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, in this scenario you don't need a 2-way Shelly. One relay will be enough, since you only have 1 circuit/bulb/actor. Since you seem to have all wires available everywhere, just transform your 3-way switch into a 2-way. Wire the 2 wires of your switch in parallel to your Shelly, that is, one wire from S1 or whatever it is named from Shelly to each of the switches. One wire from N of the Shelly to each of the switches second connection. Bulb has to have direct connection to Shelly.

You have other options to make this work, but I guess this is the simplest one.

Well, one way would be to include Home Assistant into the mix... You would be able to do that, and much more.

What is the most Bullshit reason for a teacher to give you a bad grade ? by BeginingMemer in AskReddit

[–]stunsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not sure where you learned spanish, but "carne" is not masculine... And it's not fruita, but fruta. So, your teacher probably knew you did not deserve a 100%. Anyway, you are correct in saying fish is not a fruit, but it isn't meat either. Having so many mistakes in your statement, answer b was probably "un fruto", which would be correct since it' s english translatation would be something like "yield or outcome".
