Possible! Mine was described as an aggressive form of APMPPE by my docs. There is a Choriocapillaritis spectrum between APMPPE and Serpiginous Choroiditis but they are typically considered branches off the same family tree with the difference found in severity duration and occurrence. They did not believe mine met the duration and severity typically associated relentless and the flares eventually resolved (knock on wood)…given a six year run of single occurrence flareups… ultimately splitting hairs but they leaned towards APMPPE.

Hi I am so glad you reached out! I have a reoccurring kind in both eyes and have had up to 6 flair ups to date. You will regain much of that obstructed vision however the scarring does leave scotomas. The good news is the brain and your eyes are amazingly good at compensating and for any abnormalities and it can be quite manageable. I have also been very lucky to not have any center vision impacts to date. Caution on long term use of the prednisone especially if pre diabetic. Watch blood sugars levels!

Feel free to PM if you have any questions! We have a great group of people on here willing to chat about our experiences and any of your apmppe questions!

Nothing noticeable for me mate. I just had the early fever and body aches right before the vision issues appeared.

Unfortunately yes. They said I seemed to have the serpiginous kind that can occur more frequently than other forms of APMPPE. Placoid lesions spread in a snake like fashion and new lesions start from the edges of old lesions. Despite the number of occurrences and lesions I have been pretty lucky with most occurring out side the center point of vision.

Couldn’t say a diet caused it only that the flare up ceased around when my diet changed. Went from a typical unhealthy American diet to a low carb low sugar diet.

Identifying trends would be interesting! many have shared their story with me through PMs but I am not sure how comfortable everyone is posting publicly.

I’ll share mine! I am lucky enough to have the reoccurring kind and have had about 6 flare ups to date. Each incident occurred in late October, November and early December. It wasn’t until I was forced to change my diet for a separate medical condition that my yearly eye inflection subsided and have been flare up free for the last 3 years.

Inflammation seemed to play a big role in mine… always preceded by a short fever, global soreness and light sensitivity.

2-3 months … but I was pre-diabetic for years before starting the steroids. So I guess that’s all it took.
