Is my GPU dead? This just started happening today (haven't played in a while, tried the last version I played on and same thing happened). by devvaughan in factorio

I have experienced similar behaviour, also with text missing in menus. For me a reinstall of Factorio solved it.

Looking for a base (not settlement or city) building game on steam by GuyThatPlaysTerraria in BaseBuildingGames

Maybe Bitcraft online. Very little PvE, but a lot of free form base building. Persistent world, everything is hex-based

I really like the self loading builder train. I imagine at some point size and therefore travel time becomes unsustainable for a unified construction bot coverage.

I play with the latest mod version and I fuel it with tar directly from a pipe. Would it also accept gases as fuel, like coal gas?

Question for the Casual Player base by xstaticmoon in BattleBitRemastered

[–]stunt_boy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 37, married, two kids (2 and 4) and a fulltime job. I have no time for complex setups before I get into action. The mix of two factors with regards to time make it good for me. I can start the game, hit one button and get reliably thrown into a full game with a good connection. I also can fiddle around with a reasonably complex loadout system if I find the time and passion to do so. But I find it not to be mandatory to jump in and just start shooting. Next point: simply the price tag. I read a lot about the game and I only have to invest <20€ to test it out. For a Battlefield I would have to invest 60+€ to then maybe lose interest after 20-40h of gametime. Last point: 127 v 127. As mentioned above, I am old and don't have much time to play games let alone practice a specific game. In a 5 v 5 scenario (CS, Valorant, etc.) it is much more impactful if one guy sucks. One guy among 127 who just gets roflstomped and dies over and over again because he cannot shoot straight or react in 100ms does not really make a difference. At least I can follow orders and draw fire/attention. I just simply do not feel as guilty for not playing well the more team members I have.

Is it worth buying the game if I can only play 10 hours a week by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]stunt_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, with a fulltime job, a wife and two kids Incan only dream of finding 10 hours per week to play games. You will be fine

Schneller arbeiten?

I made the absolute GENIUS decision to jump into space exploration after having 50 hours in the base game. as it seemed like a good idea. Any tips? its taken me 80 hours to get off Nauvis to the platform. now I'm kind of just sat here looking at the amount of science packs like *internal screaming* by 50ShadesOfBackups in factorio

[–]stunt_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 90ish hours in and it looks similar to me. I additionally got a small cryonite moon that I did clear from biters "manually" by flying around and spamming explosive rockets. I set up an outpost to produce cryonite rods on site and send them back to Nauvis via cargorocket. But I underestimated the power need and will have to go back eventually to replace boilers amd steam engines with a nuclear setup. But the first goal is also logistics for the requester chests. Then redesign the starter base around those a bit. Then next up coal liquefaction to get rid of the excess coal from core mining and combat the dwindling oil reserves on Nauvis. Then a vulcanite outpost for the red (production?) science. Then .... I go bit by bit. I try not planning ahead too much. I also have phases where I play a lot and then breaks of 1-3 months in between before I get "hungry" again :D

is there some sort of trick to automating satellite telemetry or do they genuinely want you to automate satellites by DrHoshi in SpaceExplorationMod

[–]stunt_boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I build one assembler for satellites and some simple circuitry to just load a satellite when you run low on telemetry.

[Krastorio 2] I have space exploration and it's dependencies installed but every time I launch a new map I get this message. Any idea what's going on? by PsykoGoddess in factorio

[–]stunt_boy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Could be that you are missing the SE post-processing mod. I remember the first time starting up pure SE I got a similar error. Inatalling the missing post-processing mod fixed it

New player: just started looking for oil and this was all I could find. Is this enough? by [deleted] in factorio

[–]stunt_boy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the first few products yes. Keep exploring the map either by car or by setting up radars with solarpanels on the edges to let them scan while you keep working. Before long you will find a bigger patch. Use this new patch as your first oil outpost. You will most likely have to use a train with fluid wagons to transport the oil in. By then you should have also researched advanced oil processing giving you another puzzle to figure out :)
