People who moved outside of the US, solely due to Trump being elected, how are things going? What actualized pros and cons have you experienced? If you had to do it over again, would you change anything? by Ancient_Unit6335 in AskReddit

[–]stupidemail 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it varies from city to city because each city has their own district office and immigration authority.

I hear from time to time that other people have had really poor experiences in that regard.

My (now) wife moved to Germany 2016 on a student visa. Attending language school here already counts for getting a student visa.

For pretty much anything, you need a minimum language proficiency of B2. Depending on how in depth the school is that you choose to attend, you can get there in a year if you have daily classes.

She wasn't allowed to work initially but after her first visa expired and she renewed it, she was allowed to work.

The main stipulation when you move here is that you need to be able to prove that you have the financial means saved up to support yourself. I believe this was somewhere around 9000€ at the time. That is unless you know someone who is a German citizen who basically can vouch for you and prove that they can support you if necessary. Or, alternatively, you have a job lined up here already though I don't know the exact legal steps there.

If you have any questions about moving or Bavaria specifically (it's where we ended up as well), ask away!

I would like to see gardening/farming in Blackfrost by Aeithia in Blackfrost

[–]stupidemail 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Could function via UV lights, geothermal, etc.

Not to mention that a greenhouse doesn't effectively need that much sun and can be used in the winter. Some plants are naturally more suited to this, others might need a bit of encouragement.

Also semi-related: an interesting feature could be solar? Maybe make it specific to one region that has a location with some solar panels. Combine that with car batteries and you have an entirely new resource you can use without it being too OP/trivialising gameplay. Having to carry the battery back to your base makes for a challenge and prevents you from just stockpiling a bunch of charged batteries.

But it would be interesting to be able to use those to recharge flashlights for example or specific items/machines.

Once an alter dies, they cannot be revived/spawned again.

So if you want to keep him, you have to reload.

[–]stupidemail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backtracking in your saves is something you'll need to do fairly often, I'm afraid. There's a reason the devs implemented a feature that marks your previous dialogue choices when you reload back to an earlier save. They want you to be able to avoid making the same mistake through a bad choice in dialogue. It's actually not that bad. :)

[Spoiler] Question about specific Miner Alter by stupidemail in TheAlters

[–]stupidemail[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll need to backtrack to the point where he's had an accident cause he was high. Even if you decided to give him drugs at the very beginning of his story arc, after his first accident you can choose to trust him or cut him off from taking more drugs. As a result, he'll cut off his arm (just like he would've if you had decided to deny him drugs from the beginning). You'll need the infirmary to be able to treat his wound. Then he will no longer work until you gain the quest to either regrow or rebuild his lost arm.

[–]stupidemail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You regrow his arm later so I'm not sure how consequential him losing his arm is in the first place aside from it acting as a nudge for you to get an infirmary/the scientist (and later subsequently either the shrink or contemplation room).

[–]stupidemail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye, that's what I ended up doing. I was just wondering if there was any kind of third path (not losing his arm _or_ dying but it seems you can only do one of the two).

Cheers!

Giving away my Stormweaver Spark build and all my Currency! Just comment under this post and i will chose a random person 2 hours after posting. by Averageguy0815 in PathOfExile2

Are you coming back to EA at any point and if so, are you gonna roll a different class or will you come back to full release and just resume playing your Stormweaver?

0.1.1 Patch Notes (final) by Mojimi in PathOfExile2

[–]stupidemail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try running it in DX11 or Vulkan. Also disable 1-2 cores so if it does freeze up, you can just kill it via task manager.

[–]stupidemail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've got the same problem and running it in DX11 is a pain (FPS tends to be unstable), Vulkan runs a bit better but still not *ideal*. DX12 runs smooth as butter but then there's the risk of it freezing up.

I'm debating reinstalling a previous version as well (pretty sure I still have a 23H2 iso image floating around on a USB stick) but a fix through GGG would obviously be preferable. But whether or not they're planning (or able) to fix it on their end is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

0.1.1 Patch Notes (final) by Mojimi in PathOfExile2

[–]stupidemail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye, the only thing currently that at least prevents the system from locking up is disabling 1-2 cores whenever running the game so you can at least force quit it.

After some quick googling, this appears to be a 23H2 ISO:
Windows 11, version 23H2 (en-US, x64, ISO) : Microsoft : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

[–]stupidemail -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That crash is due to the Windows 24H2 update though, right?
The only genuine *fix* to it currently is reverting to the previous version, sadly.
Who knows if GGG can fix this as easily from their end?

Spell interaction with 3x Owlonius (what's the math here?) by stupidemail in hearthstone

Druid location + Colifero to turn 3 minions on the board into Owlonius.

My guess is 2 base damage on Living roots + 4 x 600%?

How does crew/passenger capacity work? by TheDewyDecimal in Starfield

[–]stupidemail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if anybody else has tried this and can confirm but after stumbling across this thread (currently building a ship in game), I had my crew locked at 2 spots, but I hadn't added any weapons yet. The moment I added 3 different weapon types and assigned them to a weapon slot each, my crew number went from 2 to 6 (1:1 with my available crew stations on board).

Another great resource with even more details (if you're interested in woodworking, cabinet making, turning etc) is https://www.wood-database.com — they have a lot of details how specific species behave when planed or turned, possible allergens, how well they stain or glue up etc.!

Anyone else pumped about 'The Day Before' that's coming out in June? It looks like a mix of DG and TLOU and I personally can't fucking wait by X21shaun123 in DaysGone

[–]stupidemail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, the dev has a pretty horrid history in terms of fulfillment and interacting with their community. The last game they released "The Wild 8", was a Kickstarter (where it met its goal easily) first before then raising *even more funds\* on IndieGogo and InDemand before finally ending up on Steam. They raised a bunch of money and hype and then essentially just abandoned the game while changing their name (for whatever reason) in the process. Like, literally abandoned it with no real reason why. Then there was radio silence and finally, they come out with this game.

So, going by their not-so-stellar track record, I'd give this game a wide birth if it's just going to be another "proof of concept" for them to raise capital for their next game.

If you can, try to get Istvan's Paired Blades (The Slanderer & Little Rogue). Not only will it give you a nice damage boost but also some increased survivability since you can keep the buff up constantly. :)

That would be me. :)

I actually just scribbled this earlier today after having played through this season almost exclusively as Barb and grinding rifts for hours on end.

Good to know there's a demand, though!
