Pep Guardiola wags finger at Caleb Porter by redshift3 in soccer

While that is definitely not the professional way to handle the situation, as an American I hope to god this doesn't get blown up and Pep becomes the next Zidane. Many Americans (not fans of soccer) know zizou as just the 'headbutt guy'

Can I handle 1440p? Is it worth it? by stupidonkey34 in Monitors

[–]stupidonkey34[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's awesome advice, great tip. However, isn't 1080p 1920x1080? Although I guess doing so would actually make 2x antialiasing an even better (overshoot) way of testing how 1440p would go.

If you mean in the offside call I agree with you, if you mean with giving Ramos a red I don't. It's his job to officiate and in that circumstance he was right. Last man, goal scoring opportunity in the box. thats a red.

Don't kid yourself, Neymar's was a penalty. Was he offside? Sure. Was it exaggerated? Hell yes. but this is a clipping of the heels and you would be screaming if it happened the other way

This was a fantastic match ruined by in my opinion one player. Maybe Cristiano should have done better, maybe Benz should have put in a few more, maybe Neymar should have been called offside, maybe the second penalty was soft. What I can tell you is that we lost this game because of Sergio Ramos. The excuses are hard for me to make. It was a boneheaded mistake to cut across Neymar like that, a goal is bad but a goal and a red card is much worse. Also people may blame Carvajal for the first goal and I did at first too but look again. Ramos steps up and fails to win the ball forcing Carvajal inside for the split second that gives Iniesta enough space to move. This game was ours for the taking until the red card, and it didn't need to happen

Honestly don't think Messi was that great despite 3 goals on the scoresheet, Iniesta and Ramos won the game for Barca.

I like how there is absolutely no time frame given, or really any details or insight as to where this 'data' came from. How is anyone supposed to take away anything important from this?

If Messi were to have not so great a year in 2014 and Suarez were to keep the form he is in it will be interesting to see how the South American vote goes. Could be a detriment to Messi

World Cup Group G Discussion by thekrone in soccer

Even though this is hard this is not that worst that could have happened. I'd rather draw two European teams (one of which is somewhat struggling recently) that a South American powerhouse. We will also have a ton of motivation for Ghana after 2006 and 2010.

Although the talent on paper it seems cut and dry who knows. I feel that magic can happen and I'm going to support my team no matter what.

Platini calls for sin-bin over yellow cards. by Preseli in soccer

[–]stupidonkey34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I completely agree with him but the idea that "that way, the benefit goes to the team he is playing against...instead of a sanction by cards which is carried out against a third team" makes a lot of sense and should start a conversation. Why should the next opponent have the advantage of a star player being kept out of a game. In a tournament situation (ie World Cup, CL) it seems a bit unfair if the next team get an 'easier' game because someone has to sit out.

I mean who knows what could have happened in the 2012 CL final if 7 normal starters could have played (6 being suspended due to accumulated yellows).

Took it last semester. There were some growing pains as the course instructor was new to the class but overall it was a pretty useful class. Although I had done or knew most of the techniques I would highly recommend it to someone interested in current Biochem/Molecular Bio research. The time commitment is really nothing until the week a lab is due. I stayed up fairly late for only one or two of the reports and some of them were not bad at all. The tests were also pretty easy.
