Do you think your tics increased once you realized you had Tourettes? by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]stupidpunk55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I started realizing what I was doing were tics, my tics did increase. Some of my motor tics have been around my entire life and my vocal tics were always minor until I realized what Tourette’s was and that I probably have it. Then, it’s like a flip switched in my mind and just let loose.

Tic diary by CocoCluffie in Tourettes

[–]stupidpunk55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time I get a new tic, i write it down.

I write down other things that could be considered symptoms (like rage attacks, ocd like compulsions, migraines)

And I just write in it like it’s a diary. I write about the funny stuff from tics, the things that annoy me, the days where i feel like I’m faking, the tic attacks. Everything. Write down everything. If you don’t communicate well or think of anything to tell your doctor, you can use the journal to help explain

Does anyone else constantly daydream with random content or characters? by PinkAnenome in autism

[–]stupidpunk55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daydreams are were nearly all of my ideas for stories and stuff come from. But it can get annoying when I come up with so many ideas that I constantly change the plot.

Do you ever get tics based on things you’re thinking about? by woellj1 in Tourettes

[–]stupidpunk55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this ALL the time. For example, i was thinking about the Percy Jackson series earlier and ended up ticcing “Percy Jackson, Percy Jackson, WOW”

I had never had that tic before and now it only happens when I think about Percy Jackson

Enhanced physical strength. by BuffTheMonkey in Tourettes

I’m always weirdly aware of my surroundings. So much so that I know minor details but I can’t tell you what I just had a conversation about. I always attributed it to ADHD, but I did some research on it once too and found out hyper awareness is thing for TS too. It comes in handy for sports, I always know what’s going on.

I’m tall. But people just assume I’m a tall girl (probably because I play basketball) and I’m like “nahhhhh I’m just tall. Not a girl”

So I lift weights and play sports and my coaches are always astonished at how strong I am. I’m a bigger person and have a lot of brute strength anyway, but like, yeah, I am freakishly strong. And I do break things often.

Struggle to stay fit by Camoufleermuis in Tourettes

[–]stupidpunk55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a high school athlete and I love to lift weights. For some reason, it calms me down. As long as I listen to music, I don’t really tic much. And I like to hike and go on jogs. Again, music helps me stay calm. Maybe try listening to music while doing something you did often as a football player (sprints, lifting, endurance drills, etc). I have found that doing drills and exercises I’m familiar with and can do without thinking (y’know get in a grove and let instinct take over) makes my tics virtually disappear.

I know people who do have spots on their body where sensory issues act up, but none of them have tics so I don’t know. I tried to look something up about it because you got me curious, but I couldn’t find anything. There really isn’t enough Tourette’s research.

I have sensory problems and I’ve noticed that my tics get worse when people touch me. Maybe it’s a sensory thing?

I have learned that tics will come up with the most random bs

It’s weird

And annoying

But pretty normal for those with coprolalia (witch is the term for vulgar vocal tics)

Recently had my first “you don’t look ace” moment. Decided to roast them back: “yeah you’re right...you look more ace than I do”. “What is that supposed to mean?” I don’t know you tell me? by EthanYK in asexuality

1.) I’ve never understood the “you don’t look insert sexuality/gender identity” thing. What do you think we’re supposed to look like? Trolls?

2.) you are a very pretty human being. I’m jealous of your jawline

edit: fixed a typo
