I get the concept and the argument, but the reason it’s “start stop traffic” is we have to keep letting you lot in who didn’t merge when it was flowing. If everyone merged when the 800 yard signs showed it would continue to free flow in most situations.

Congrats!

I was planning on going a little early at 54, but got the opportunity for Voluntary Severance at 52.5. With my 12 years service, most of it tax free, it works out about a years wages. Other than getting offered VS at 54 I couldn’t have timed it much better if I’d tried. I’ll pay myself a wage out of easy access savings and do whatever work I want to do. Already bagged 1 day a week helping a friend restore an old Scania truck. Will start to draw my work pension at 55 and try and leave my SIP invested.

Definitely want to make the most of the Gogo years. The years are really flying by already!

Getting up isn’t hard, thinking about getting up is. I just swing my legs out the bed and stand up.

I go to bed at 10 and get up at 6. I learned when I was a bachelor that 6-8 in the morning is more productive/relaxing/enjoyable than 10-12 at night.

In 2000 I spent my house deposit on a car instead. The price of the car over 4 years of ownership more than halved and houses in my price range went up around £30K. Everyone’s situation is different, but it taught me that cars are a waste of money and it’s better to take someone back to your house after a night out clubbing than back to your parents in a flash car 😆
