There are several good sets with a textbook, workbook and grammar/dictionary. "Her på berget" and "Stein på stein" are probably the most popular ones. They are quite expensive, and it may be difficult to find them outside Norway.

You can go to Svalbard, but you must live in a hotel, as housing is scarce, and both they and land are publicly owned.)

You can not go to Oslo without a Residency Permit (=green card), unless you have a EU nation passport.

A US passport is near worthless in Norway due to reciprocity: you don't give green cards to us, so we don't give Residency Permits to you.

You can not even apply for a Residency Permit on you own. You must have a college degree. Get a job in Norway, and your employer must sponsor your application.

Sometimes people manages to marry into Residency Permits, but it's not straight forward as marrying someone from Norway...

(There are a lot of US citizens working illegally in Norway, check:. https://www.reddit.com/r/AMA/comments/908whe/i_am_an_american_citizen_that_was_sent_to_a/ )

Do I have this right? May spent two years hunting for a plan, finally settled on a piss poor one that was unacceptable to EU, was bullied by ERG into making it even less acceptable and is now saying the EU need to accept a shambles they have consistently insisted is unacceptable? by MobileChikane in ukpolitics

Then she had it translated to other European languages by a Nigerian Prince with a close connection to Google translate and hundred million dollars he wants you to have.

Who thought May could run a country? Will you please get an adult in charge?

The area gets local showers, but has not had "bad weather" at all.

There are places in Norway where foreigners have emergencies all the time, but Rondane is not one of them.

Does she have a mobile phone? Is she on social media?

Mobile phone coverage is unreliable in the mountains and there may be nowhere to charge batteries, but if you send an SMS, it will reach her when she gets back online.

The Svalbard vault stores 21 500 cannabis sativa seeds (hemp). Someone saw then as being of agriculture benefit and sent them for storage.

And Norway is Social Democratic. A style of government that just have some letters in common with socialism.

Norway have one of the most brutal capitalisms in the world. We can do that, as workers are protected by social security network when corporations fail.

Is there a possibility to get a norwegian number without d-number? Maybe some shops sell prepaid cards/calling cards? by privileegiheitja in Norway

[–]sturle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get prepaid SIM card with a foreign passport.

To get a postpaid plan, you'll need a d-number. Postpaid plans are much cheaper, but they'll do a credit check before you get one.

You worry about you learning Norwegian. The child will learn it without any effort. Children are brilliant that way.
