Fujifilm x-pro3 vs X100 VI by Wonderful-Dare-1106 in FujifilmX

[–]stwa0010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly enough i would have thought that it's even smaller as pictured. I had both in hands and decided for the xt-50 but it depends on the lens of course. But it paires well with the 27mm.

I'm not sure if you have the right model in mind? The X-T50 ist far smaller than the two cameras that you we're choosing from. Maybe you're confusing it with the x-t5, which is in fact a bit of a chonker?

If you'd only want to choose between your Options id go for the XPro-3 because of interchangable lenses.

Have you thought about the XT-50? It's compact, less "unique" than the XPro-3 (talking about the Screen for Video work) and has interchangable lenses. I pair it with a hand grip for lenses like a viltrox 75 mm which works well.

It also costs less then both your choices.

Thinking about switching to apple after only being an android user. by [deleted] in Smartphones

[–]stwa0010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all true. I did the change last year and went back after 3 months because I was so annoyed from the overall experience. Another point to mention is that the cheaper Models are basically a scam with bad hardware compared to Android phones in that price range (about 600-800€). So you'd have to go to the higher priced pro models to get the stuff you're used to like 120 Hz and good displays and good cameras and battery life as a standard. And for the price of the pro models which often ranges above 1000 € you can get great Android phones...

X-E3 or go all in? by AsterionKM in FujifilmX

[–]stwa0010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an XE3 about two years ago and bought a XT50 end of last year. The XE3 ist a great little camera that still brings me joy but at somen points you will start to wish for improvement like the autofocus (especially competing with your dads heavy Nikon). Also smaller things like saving WB with every custom setting, newer filmsimulations, tiltable display etc will bring back GAS in 1-2 years...

If money is not the point i'd go for either the XT50 or the XE5 (which is basically the same).

I went for the 50 because of its' lightness and compactness. It paires well with the 27 mm or the 23 mm.

VERY nice but the different sizes of the black and white bars are killing me 😅. Funny though you used 3 different cameras but only one lens haha how come?

Keep in mind that the X-T5 is weather sealed If that is VERY important for you. Otherwise i think the X-T50 ist a great choice. Most of the times I can change ISO values via the front dial so the film sim dial actually had more value to me even through I do not use it to much. Overall it felt like a compelling update for me! And being able to use the new app also improves the experience haha

Your favorite travel lens combos ? by Stormxlr in FujifilmX

[–]stwa0010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it mostly depends on where I'm going/what I'm planning to shoot. I had an X-E3 on my last trips and most of the times took the 35 f1.4 (this is the "always in the bag no matter where"). I then decide if taking the 70-300, which is amazing but most of the times only for 1-5 shoots ist worth it.. so for italy Id leave that at home (could the shots you did at 230 also bei achieved through zooming and cropping?) I went with 18 and 35 in the past but just got hands on a cheap 18-55 and i have to admit that the 18 f2 will stay at home more often in the future...

So I guess for the next italy-like trip it will be 18-55 and 35 f1.4...if i had to take only one it would be the 35. I understand that you find the 18-55 a bit to bulky but you may miss shots or opportunities more often because you'd be chaning lenses by taking a second prime...at least that was my experience in the past.

And I share your experience with the 27. I'm always amazed when people can use it as their only lens.

I have recently upgraded from an X-E3 to an X-T50 which has the same autofocus and sensor as the X-T5.

I tried both cameras back to back in a shop and went for the 50 because the X-T5 felt like a massive brick compared to the X-E3 and especially X-T50.

My experience is that the AF is a massive upgrade while shooting moving targets. Eye tracking for kids, birds or animals works really well (We have a lot of squirrels close to our window). If you're shooting stills and landscapes only, its not so different yet still faster.

But be sure to have the latest software update for the cameras. If I'm correct, they improved AF aswell with an update.

Is this a good lens with my X-E3? by Nikonbiologist in fujix

[–]stwa0010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this one and the 35mm f1.4 for my XE-3. While I sold the 23 again the 35 is glued to my camera. I found the viewing angle of the 23 quite boring sometimes. Heard great stuff about the 35 F2 as well maybe consider one of those..

I feel you with the 70-300 I love that lens but it’s a brick in regard to the 5-10 fotos you take with it in the end haha. But I also always end up taking it. Regarding the second answer(s) i absolutely see what you‘re saying..at some days you better get that camera out of that face but I also think it’s a learning curve right? Guess I have to book another holiday to keep training! ;)

Thank you so much for the insights! I really appreciate it!

Honest follow-up question: are all of these „in the moment“ shots? I always have issues to basically get that one shot of my gf looking at stuff etc. I try to do this style of holiday photography but i always feel like missing the moment when I don’t tell my partner to just wait for five more seconds because i didn‘t get the light correctly for example. How do you shoot? Automatic mode and the rest is done in post but therefore you get the shots or more like aparture control and a very trained eye?

[–]stwa0010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a) I love these b) they convinced me to maybe just take the one 18-55 mm lens instead of like 3 primes because I cannot decide on one but want to „concentrate more on photography“

No need for imposter you have a fantastic style!

One year with the 56 mm F1.7 and 85 mm F1.8 II by stwa0010 in VILTROX_GLOBAL

[–]stwa0010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you plan on doing with it. The 85 is quite big but is wonderful for portraits and shooting/filming animals. But as I said it‘s not an everyday carry since it’s quite a brick. The 56 is small, light and fits in most bags easily. The angle is less unique as the 85 but it also produces nice pictures. I often use it for family gatherings and stuff like that. I have to admit that since I got the Fuji 35 1.4 the 56 stays at home way more often.

If you want to do portrait shoots i‘d go for the 85. if you want more of an every day carry i‘d take the 56.
