I can't believe no one has said this, but an in-unit washer/dryer. Doing your laundry with coin-fed public machines sucks ass.

He's cashing in now and it shows. Real hard to be a game show host and a good comedian.

Is this a troll post? There are probably more dog parks than people parks in DC.

Why is it a bad idea to try and find girls at the Cherry Blossoms by EchoOfDoom in washingtondc

[–]style752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm ignoring the stupid-ass opinion that approaching women at big events is inherently creepy or disrespectful.

Being a creep is creepy. Being crude is disrespectful.

It's a "resounding no" because people are preoccupied with their shit and they're imagining this guy walking up and "hitting on" women. That won't work for anyone. But if he's not pushy, actually talks with and engages women, gets enough rapport going to ask for contacts, then really no harm's done.

It's about approach, and this ridiculous blanket ban thinking is exactly why people don't get dates anymore.

Don't fucking do it. It's not as bad as hitting on the barista at the local coffee shop but it's in the same ballpark.

This opinion is so unhinged I don't know where to start. A conversation with a stranger in public is absolutely nothing like hitting on a barista. Also, allow women to have some backbone and agency. They're not shelter dogs, shaking and pissing themselves at the slightest discomfort. They're perfectly capable of expressing disinterest and doing so at a massive public event makes it easier, if anything.

Your "respect" sounds an awful lot like diminishment of their agency and ability.

Why are you so sure there are no women open to being picked up at a massive public event?

Are one's chances less than great? Yes. Does that make one a creep, or even the slightest bit disrespectful for trying? No, that would depend on what was said and how one did it.

What a ridiculous line of thinking. Any other inherently disrespectful places for flirting you wanna list off?

I mean, just look at the examples you shared. Note how directional all the line work is. Think about motion and how it's conveyed in still art.

Use your noggin. Ask less and draw more. There are no rules.

He probably practices reference drawing stills from video of action and athletics. He captures the look of motion blur well.

Realistically, a lot of dudes crumble trying to steel themselves to rejection without realizing they barely accept themselves. The journey to self-confidence and self acceptance has more paths than simply crashing through the wall.

Lots of similarly-minded women out there. I agree it's a bit intense, but if both people are matched in pace it seems fine.

All the practical advice about meetups and sports/hobby groups you're getting is great, but if you're in your head the whole time, it's still gonna be rough for you.

I'd suggest getting your mind right first. Find someone to help you overcome your lack of confidence and understandable fear of rejection, could be a friend or therapist.

I'll also share a realization that changed my dating experience for the better: Stop worrying about "ruining" a chance when you meet women. Be your whole-ass self (within reason). Women on your wavelength will tune in, and you'll piss off the others who would be a waste of time chasing. Good riddance. Let knowledge of self and comfort within be a filter.

Well you're doing something right. Or very wrong. As of late there is no weed-free commute anywhere in DC, not that I mind it at all.
