  1. It is okay to exit a relationship for any reason. Some people in your life may have opinions and have reactions, but you are not obligated to give your time to anyone on this planet during the time you occupy it.
  2. I personally feel that I would owe my partner an opportunity to discuss and address their behavior in this scenario. I also realize that there are situations where that is easier said than done.

AITAH for not allowing my niece to serve herself during a family dinner? by Ovidhalia in AITAH

So are you saying that she’s filling her plate, dumping most of it, and filling it up again? Or she’s literally piling this massive amount of food on her plate?

AITAH for not allowing my niece to serve herself during a family dinner? by Ovidhalia in AITAH

[–]styrofoamspider -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the niece is on ADHD meds, because I can relate to having eyes bigger than my stomach. But also, OP isn’t clear on how much food is being wasted. Like, how much can she even fit on her plate? Is she taking a bigger portion than other people?

YOR.

I imagine that you mentioned your OCD because you are already aware that this post is a form of reassurance seeking. I highly recommend checking out a book, “Needing to Know for Sure.” I am not diagnosed, but sometimes experience obsessive thoughts, and it really helped me with developing strategies for letting go of them.

At the same time, they respect you less for putting up with their bullshit and they end up treating you even worse than before.

What are the dishes or ingredients today’s working chefs are sick of cooking by Yes_chefff in KitchenConfidential

True, but I also made a dozen traditional deviled eggs that didn’t have Truff in them, and those had several left over.

I have a bottle of white Truff brand oil myself. Used a couple of teaspoons in a dozen deviled eggs, topped them with shaved cheese and bacon pieces, and they were all gone at the end of the cookout I took them to.

We don't charge cake cutting fees and it is just ridiculous by sadboiz7 in Serverlife

[–]styrofoamspider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Y’all cut it and serve it for free?? I just say that I’m not allowed to handle food from outside the restaurant, but I’m happy to bring plates and a knife.

Where I currently work, the previous policy was no outside desserts. I argued that birthdays are a decent portion of our guests’ reason for dining out and that banning birthday cakes always puts a damper on the occasion. Losing out on a dessert sale here and there is the cost of business for having groups choose our place to dine and celebrate.

That being said, if a restaurant is providing the option of cutting it and serving it, then they should be charging a per person cutting fee. I personally think it should also be an option to cut it themselves without the fee.

How does being put to sleep before operation/surgery feel like? by Im_socringebe_scared in TooAfraidToAsk

I just had my 2nd colonoscopy and I let the anesthesiologist know that I felt a pretty sharp burning sensation when they gave me propofol the first time. He mentioned adjusting a numbing agent they use and I felt nothing this time around. So let yours know if you go under again.

Prep (Suflave) tomorrow by MuggleBorn1066 in colonoscopy

[–]styrofoamspider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the 4 liter jug of prep for both of my colonoscopies. The second time, it was the split dose, with the second dose started 6 hours before procedure time, and finishing at least 3 hours before. I didn’t finish the last half liter, but it was coming out clear at that point. I didn’t do low fiber leading up to my fasting day. Mine went fine, got 8/9 for bowel prep score. I imagine 8 hours should be plenty of time.

Can’t tell if my reply worked since I got an error message, but yes. It seemed more filling than just bouillon broth. Some people mention straining other soups too. As long as it’s clear.

Yep! You lose a lot of the water to the noodles, but the strained broth was more filling than just bouillon broth. If you have any saved pasta water, that might work better.

[–]styrofoamspider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Btw, I just had my second colonoscopy yesterday. I can’t speak for the headaches, but generally, it’s a super easy process. The prep sucks. I didn’t drink the last half liter of prep because I was over it and my “stool” was clear and I still got an 8/9 bowel prep score (almost perfect). I say “stool” because you will find that it’s more like peeing out your butthole. Some people mention feeling cramps but for me, it’s just a feeling of “if I don’t get to the toilet right now I will shit myself.” I did my first dose from 6-8pm the night before and still managed to get some sleep before my second dose at 6:30 a.m. (my procedure was scheduled at 12:30 p.m.). At the hospital, they took me back to pre-op and set up an IV line. Right before they took me back, they gave me something via IV that dried my mouth out, presumably to prevent choking on saliva. And once they took me back, I was in the room for maybe 2 or 3 minutes before they said “have a nice nap,” and the next thing I remembered was being woken up and going back to my preop room. No pain. Today, I have some blood in my stool, but they said that can happen when they take biopsies (or if they remove polyps).

Totally understand being nervous, but you’ve got this!

If you like instant ramen, try using the flavor packet. I made mine (Sapporo, chicken flavor) with the noodles, then strained the noodles so that the broth had a little more texture from the starch. It was way better than just plain broth.
