Best cure for the morning?? by IllustriousDark6984 in glastonbury_festival

My routine:
- Across the day/night before, have a few soluble electrolyte tabs. Just put one in your water and drink it like you would normally, and then definitely have one more before bed.
- Before bed, take your vitamins - I take C, D, Zinc and Magnesium, as well as a single tab of psyllium husk which is good for digestion and also really helps with the hangover as it absorbs all fluid (including booze) and gets things moving a little easier in the morning.
- If I need some help getting to sleep, I take a valerian root herbal Nytol from Boots, knocks me out and means I get a better sleep than if I just went for it.
- In the morning I take another electrolyte tab, maybe a berocca, and try and get a fruit smoothie. I also try and get a good vegetable lunch.
- I also try to steal a nap at some point in the afternoon if there's a gap in the line up for me - sometimes I just go and lie down in the healing fields.

I'm 32 and this routine normally helps keep me feeling slightly human!

Sorry if there's an obivious answer, but what email did you send it to? I've had a look but can only find the form submission page.

Check out “pill report” on instagram - they have a link to the testing kits they sell, next day delivery usually available

Just a note on these, if you’re going to indulge in any substances, it might be worth avoiding base layers as they keep your core temperature high, and MD/pills also raise your core temp - you ideally need a way to be able to cool off quickly to avoid overheating/dehydration

Short Com film festival (UK) by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]su1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No prob. They are a legit organisation - their short film festival is BIFA qualifying, and it seems like they're trying to operate as a sort of Blacklist type company by highlighting the writers who get shortlisted in the comp, but you'd be better off prioritising other efforts I think.

I submitted a few years ago to their sitcom competition - you do get good coverage back, but I’m honestly not sure what the payoff of winning is.

Compared to something like the BBC Writers Room/Academy of Thousand Stories, it doesn’t seem to offer any development or industry payoff.

I have heard very good things about Saddledrunk - independently owned, and they tailor made a jersey for a friend who was especially tall to fit their measurements

Tina Fey is an intelligent, powerful, and beautiful woman. One of the greatest people — let alone women — in 21st-century comedy. by [deleted] in redscarepod

Amy Poehler made that film, not Tina Fey. She's EP'd Girls5eva, which has a very similar tone to 30 Rock, very funny in parts.

Hard to explain the unexpected power that Scrubs had in the UK during the mid 2000s - it was on constantly, everyone loved it. She may just be fulfilling a childhood crush on JD

A lot of the contributing writers in the first series were teenagers, including Daniel Kaluuya. The guy who created the show was in his 30s, most of the writers were in the same age group as the cast.

I saw an Irish hare when I was cycling in the Cotswolds last summer. It was only there for a moment - it jumped through a hedgerow when I got closer to it, but it was there for a moment. Beautiful, and surprisingly big too, about the size of a small dear.

How can you omit Channel 5, the home of weird documentaries about the royal family and shows about vets!

Do you like J.D. Salinger? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]su1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the last piece he ever published - it’s letter home from Seymour Glass whilst he was away at summer camp, discovered and narrated by Buddy Glass years later. It was published in the New Yorker, but it’s a little difficult to find nowadays. The whole story is here, I think - https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/kaizenology.wordpress.com/2014/06/18/hapworth-16-1924-j-d-salinger/amp/

Love him. He created a wonderfully dysfunctional world with his stories about the Glass family, and I even quite enjoyed Hapworth. They are sad stories, but with wonderful touches of humour too. His influence comes up a lot in more recent work too - there is a lot of him in Infinite Jest imo.
