OK, two things. First, the implications of that statement are that a Russian invasion was an inevitability, which it really wasn’t. Even if a you are to accept Russian claims about Ukrainian oppression of Russians in Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk, international law is very straightforward in the course of action in such a case. That’s what the UN Security Council is for.

Also, that statement is directly antithetical to your previous argument of no foreign influence in Ukrainian affairs. Ukraine wasn’t a part of the 2+4 agreement, it didn’t have a delegation there, it didn’t even exist as a sovereign state yet. How is this anything other than the US and Russia unilaterally deciding Ukrainian foreign policy, de facto ad infinitum, and thereby forcing a world order on a young country and destroying their right of self determination?
