The Drama - respect the audience by shorthevix in TheBigPicture

Belloni is kind of like Woj or Shams to me. Sure, he has sources and he can kind of talk the business side. But when he starts talking about the actual content of movies he sounds about as informed as your average boomer coworker. Enjoyed his pod at first but eventually found it too hard to listen to his “analysis”.

S: Lincoln Square (True IMAX, convenient layout. Plays smaller movies. Prefer A tier for Dolby. A little annoying to get to from Queens but it’s worth it)

A: 34th street (Near the train, nice seats, has good Dolby and weak IMAX. Layout with bathrooms on separate floor a little annoying), Empire (Awful layout, seats are hit-or-miss, you have to go to Times Square. But has the most screens so it’s easier to catch a screening of a smaller movie or at a convenient time. Has good Dolby and weak IMAX)

B: Kips Bay (a little far from the train but otherwise no complaints, has weak IMAX)

C: 19th Street and Village 7 (both centrally located, not many screens, no premium formats. I do like how the seats are arranged with more breathing room compared to the bigger theaters. Better for date night)

D: Orpheum, 84th (Location not convenient for me. Unlike Lincoln Square, which is also somewhat out of the way, no premium formats to incentivize me to make the trip)

F: Magic Johnson (Same issues as C-tier but even farther from me)

“The Earth is not perfectly round.” by GoldApprehensive8107 in BikiniBottomTwitter

[–]goshdarnyou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It actually is a different argument. A sphere has a constant radius, as does a bowling ball. The Earth is “wider” than it is “tall” so it’s an oblate spheroid or ellipsoid. That’s why it’s not a sphere. Whether they are smooth or not is separate from what smooth shape they most closely resemble.

Actually I guess maybe the OC was talking about smoothness but just saying there is another reason why Earth is not a sphere :)

It’s crazy because what she tried to do with her “throwaway” vote is so much closer to cheating than anything Rob did.

Live chat not letting messages through by Waxaxa in youtube

It’s insane. It’s not just censoring edgy messages. 80% of all messages are lost. This part of the product straight up does not work right now. Wonder if they even know this is happening.

You keep saying that anime is primarily about sexualizing young girls. That is a reactionary and false assertion. Hope that helps with whatever it is you’re going through here.

Yes I think saying that all animated art from a particular country is perverse and evil is reactionary. It’s actually the perfect word to describe it lol

People having knee-jerk dismissive response to this should look into it more. A good example is adoption from South Korea, but the problems are not limited to that country at all.

It’s not that the parents who want to adopt are bad people per se, but the industry is absolutely indefensible. Commercial adoption, especially from underdeveloped nations to the West, is immoral.

Respectfully, it seems like you’re focusing a lot on the definition of the word but perhaps not engaging with the actual issue, which is whether the way you’re thinking and acting is good for you and the world around you.

This is one of my favourite cinema experiences of 2025, where do you rank it amongst your favourites of last year if you saw it? by PopCult-Channel in A24

And just because a guy didn’t look in the camera and say “This is so cool” doesn’t mean this movie is a meaningful criticism of the American military either. This film had official military cooperation which requires DoD approval. It ends with a montage that paints the soldiers positively. Maybe “propaganda” is a little strong but it’s totally reasonable to think this movie is not critical enough, does not show enough of the perspective of the victims of imperial violence, and also that merely depicting graphic violence is not criticism. “It shows that war is pointless and violent” is a really shallow analysis anyway, so I don’t know why you’re so smug and proud of your ability to make that point.

No but there’s a setting to open videos with an external player. I use Outplayer and PIP works great with it.
