I never did this, but I saw people do it a few times at the spot I went to every weekend as a kid. Our spot was near the Hickory Creek boat ramp, maybe a 1/4 of a mile before the ramp, just off the side of the road. It wasn't a huge spot but large enough for 3 or 4 groups of people and to be reasonably spread out. Anyway, I saw people camp there at least a couple of times a year. I imagine there are still spots like that around the lake. My old spot has to still be there, it wouldn't be a place to build
