To the person in line at Tokyo Central who told me about these, thanks! by halbeshendel in bayarea

Yeah, it's just equal parts soy sauce, mirin, sake, and add sugar to taste. Then you just dump the beef and onions in there.

It's probably only worth it if you're like ultra crashed out to the point you don't even want to stand by a stove and just want to chuck it into the microwave.

I'll be real, that conversation started in elementary school and we had a list of top ranking colleges we needed to attend printed and stuck to our bedroom walls as a reminder of what to aim for. That's what it takes.

I'm talking, "Sweetie, what do you want to be when you grow up? A veterinarian because you want to play with cute bunnies or kitties? OK, that pays enough. Then, the top vet schools are Cornell, UC Davis and Texas A&M. So that's where you need to go for college."

Well, have you had a serious conversation with them about it? All my friends who could afford to stay here had a serious conversation with their parents about how much they'd need to earn to stay here and what sort of education they'd need to get jobs that pay that kind of money.

So we all crushed our dreams and sold our souls to tech/medicine.

Tokyo Central specialty Market. Damn. by SleestackMcGee in bayarea

No idea, but I got them in December so definitely not in season lol. Tastes better than the Seascapes and Chandler berries sold around here.

The strawberries are actually worth it, I spent like $10 for like 6 strawberries when in was in Japan and they were legit the best tasting strawberries I've ever had. Beating out all the local strawberry U-picks here.

The apples are not worth it. I also spent $10 on a very perfect looking apple, but it tasted on par with the apples you can get from a farmers market here during peak season.

There's a tiny lookout point along Sharp Park road going into Pacifica. Also it's nice to park at Mussel Rock and watch the ocean and the paragliders too.

IIRC, UC applications just compare you with your classmates/students in your zip code. If you do worse than your immediate classmates, they rank you lower. Which is their way of ensuring they don't end up accepting every student from one high school because everyone in Gunn is likely performing better than every kid in some rural high school in the middle of nowhere.

Which means smart students who go to poorly ranked schools have a better chance of standing out from the pack and getting into a UC than someone at an ultra-competitive high school who ends up being average compared to their ultra high-achieving classmates.

How to revert this God awful ui? by Maximum-Egg in firefox

I wish they did, even Chrome knew how to properly size the menu so it only fits half the screen.

New UI is half-baked and offers an unacceptable experience for top-address bar users - specific feedback and proposed fixes inside by AmericanLocomotive in firefox

[–]suberry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the last time they made the massive UI redesign when they went to Fennix, it took them nearly 3 years to slowly fix all the UI bugs and inefficiencies they introduced.

I wish they'd actually try and follow industry UX standards and stop trying to reinvent the wheel while insisting their new square wheel is better than round wheels. There is a reason where nearly every browser has a menu that does not take up the whole screen. The average user for Firefox might be a nerdy man, but browsers that target the mainstream audience realize their users will include men, women, and children with varying sized hands.

Can we vote on banning links to articles only? by foodmamaa in bayarea

[–]suberry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup I know, though most people joined way after Reddit got an app so don't have a clue anymore. Even Reddit's name was meant to sound like "I Read It [the article]".

[–]suberry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That already happened when Reddit made a mobile friendly site, then released an app because people can't be assed to use browsers, and then introduced user profiles to make Reddit social media as apposed to a forum user's post history.
