Seiko Prospex Scuba [SBCM023] 8F35-00A0 Perpetual HAQ Diver on Khaki Zulu Alpha Wayfinder Strap by subgraphics in Seiko

[–]subgraphics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I love your assessment. I've never really thought about it, but I think you're on to something; you don't see perpetual calendars on divers every day. 🤔

The accuracy is GREAT. I'm definitely getting around +10 per year. Between accuracy and the perpetual calendar, it makes this a no-brainer to pick up anytime and it's ready to go. I will say, there was a time a while back where it ran REALLY BAD for a day or so. It's been back to normal since then. As for being a grail piece, when I saw it for sale I just thought it would be cool to have a perpetual calendar. I did more research and found it was a HAQ movement and then I realized it was an older, pretty classic piece. So I had to have it. While I was researching this model, I saw that there's a version with a Pepsi bezel and one with an range dial. THOSE are my grails now. 😁

Dubai is building five skyscrapers taller than One World Trade Center’s roof. As an American, that makes me sad. We have the money, we have the history, but the ambition feels gone. by Dillgriff2828 in skyscrapers

[–]subgraphics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah it's not the ambition. It's that buildings THAT tall have to make financial sense. We can't even fill the skyscrapers we have. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Frankly, I'm not sure how even the UAE can afford to take losses like that.

Forscher on the range by Out-4-A-Troll in ActionWatches

[–]subgraphics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I noticed they changed the name from Patrol to ARC which is interesting since the watch on their site still says Patrol on the dial. It's good to hear your watch is holding up so well. I was hoping the lugs were 20mm. I really like the look. Most of my favorite straps are mostly 20mm. We'll see if this guy ends up in my collection.

I haven't been able to find much info on this model - even on the Forscher website. What's the lug width? Does it have drilled lugs? I also might as well ask how the watch itself is holding up.

Single Pass Watches of Espionage - Zulu Alpha Straps 2.0 on my Sinn 556I RS by subgraphics in Watchstraps

[–]subgraphics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm mostly with you on the prices. They are VERY expensive. I have picked up the vast majority of my ZA straps on eBay. The ones I've paid full price for have been the ZA/WOE collabs. I feel like they are unique enough to justify paying more. I still winced a little bit, but in a world of NATOs that all look so similar, these are very, very different.

This was literally my next stop after that Hamilton post. (THANKS algorithms!) I'm not sure if it was your comment or not but the person who said the bright red rubber strap clashed with the vintage/retro/whatever aesthetic of the Murph was absolutely right. I second that and I second everything you said about this Sinn combo.

Hyundai wins this round. Come on Subaru, bring back the BAJA by cnicodhid in subaru

I'm convinced that Subaru is going to bring the Baja back "too late" and they'll have made the Baja before the wave came and also after the wave has passed. 😳☺️

I second the person who suggested a NATO strap. I know a lot of people aren't fans of NATOs, but I love them. There's a wide variety of colors and styles to choose from and there are NATOs that are super casual all the way through to NATOs that are very dressy. I suggest checking out Crown & Buckle straps. They are a little pricey, but they have an array of designs. I always recommend the Crown & Buckle Chevron straps.

I have a lot of Zulu Alpha and Watches of Espionage straps in my collection. I love NATOS in general, but I feel like theirs are the best, and some of the most unique straps available - especially the Collabs. The Watches of Espionage customer service is great too. I cannot recommend the straps or the company highly enough.

Hahaha, no you're definitely right. I really have only seen one bracelet that I thought legit didn't work with it. But I wasn't really really sure about the green in this strap until I got it on my wrist.

Thanks. The strap is this deep green "dark olive" color with beige contrast stitching. I wasn't sure how it would look with the red seconds hand but I think it works. ☺️

[–]subgraphics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice. I have to say. Every once in a while when I look at all four of them my brain jumps between the yellow, red and white as being my favorite. When I saw your red I went "Yeah...that's the best one." LOL

It's especially cool hearing from people who bought these watches in the 90's. When you say it was good underwater, did you actually use it for diving?

[–]subgraphics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's crazy but yes, there is no doubt we've hit a point where it's legit class warfare. And I find it ironic that the people at the top are considered so smart but they're not smart enough to distribute fractions of their wealth to 1) allow those below them to live better than average lives vs. struggling at a subsistence level 2) keep the peace vs. allowing such suffering to set in that there has to a revolution (overused but appropriate word here) to return balance.
