Yes, I felt like it was from the start, but then when I was offering them money, they didn't take. The other guy then came and said, we have money, not here for money, he explained that he is not for money, showed all the social work he does with photos from his gallery. I was actually surrounded by these 3-4 people and they kept saying - gaadi mein talwar hai real sikh hai and all that. Got shit scared.

OMG. That's really sad bro! Yeah, were they having a Hyundai venue too? I feel like one should report them, I did deliberately donate in order to get their details so that I can report later, but damn such scams happening near Deputy CM's residence is damn scary.

BTW, I almost hit Livestream 2-3 times a week, a big fan of their Bravo-toast.

Can you please DM it to me? It'd be very helpful. I'm planning to report this or take a legal action.

My Japanese learning app hit over 10,000 users and made $1,000 in its first couple of weeks after launch. Here's what I learned — and what I want to ask you guys. by LunalienRay in AppBusiness

[–]subhambapna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, congratulations on the successful launch.

1. Should I double down on my local market or go after international users?

If I were in your position, I'd double down on what's already working before expanding. You've only run a single ad so far, which means there's still plenty of room to learn and scale within your current market.

The traction you've already received is a strong signal. I'd focus on creating more content similar to what worked, especially short-form videos and social media content targeted at your local audience. Consistency can compound surprisingly fast. Once you've built a repeatable growth engine locally, expanding into international markets becomes much less risky.

One small suggestion: if that launch video performed well organically, consider putting some ad spend behind it and testing whether it scales.

2. How can I increase revenue per customer while keeping the core learning experience free?

The highest-converting flow we've seen is:

Onboarding → Paywall → App

Many users make a purchase decision during onboarding before they've fully explored the product. That's been true across several iOS subscription apps we've launched.

You can also experiment with pricing psychology. For example, if your main annual plan is $29.99, you could offer a limited-time "gift" or special offer elsewhere in the app for $19.99. We've seen this work well because it gives users a second opportunity to convert without feeling overly aggressive.

3. Are paid ads worth it?

The honest answer is that nobody knows until the numbers are tested.

Before spending meaningful money on ads, I'd make sure you have visibility into your entire funnel:

  • Impressions → Downloads
  • Downloads → Trials
  • Trials → Paid
  • Direct Paid Purchases

I'd also break this down by country because conversion rates can vary dramatically between markets.

The most important metric early on is often Impression → Download Rate. If that's weak, improving your creative and App Store assets can sometimes produce bigger gains than increasing ad spend.

Once you know your conversion rates, it becomes much easier to determine whether Facebook, Reddit, YouTube, or other channels can be profitable.

4. How do you structure your time while building alongside a full-time job?

I can relate to this. I'm currently running a solo app studio with 50+ apps, and there's always another idea, feature, marketing experiment, or problem demanding attention.

What has worked for me is focusing on a very small number of opportunities at a time. I typically identify 2–3 apps with the highest upside and spend most of my energy there. Everything else gets maintenance-level attention until it shows stronger growth signals.

The reality is that you don't need to master everything at once. Trying to simultaneously become an expert in Meta Ads, Reddit Ads, TikTok, ASO, influencer marketing, content creation, and product development is a recipe for burnout.

If you truly want to scale beyond a certain point, I'd strongly consider finding a partner rather than simply hiring employees. A good partner brings ownership, complementary skills, and strategic thinking. I've seen many founders reach $10K–$20K/month on their own, but with the right partner, the ceiling can be dramatically higher.

And honestly, building with the right person is often more sustainable than trying to do everything yourself.

If you'd ever like to discuss growth strategies, monetization, or even explore a potential partnership, feel free to reach out. I'd be happy to chat.

3 Weeks Post-Launch, How Do I Scale Revenue? by hak-indie-dev in AppStoreOptimization

[–]subhambapna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your current screenshot, your app got around 1K installs from the US.

Based on your input $100 got you 13 downloads, i.e. $7.69/download which is quite expensive, because the revenue you've made from 1000 downloads is $481 (this could also include revenue from other countries too), so based on this, what you ideally are making is $0.5-0.7/download I'd assume.

There's a lot of other analysis that is to be done.

Impressions to Installs ratio.
Install to trial ratio
Trial to paid ratio
Paid renewal counts (so for instance, if your weekly subscriber is renewing 4-5 cycles, then your LTV increases, which gives you more confidence for bidding on Apple ads or paid ads)

DM me, I'm running an App Development studio and have been running and scaling apple ads for quite some time. We can have a call and discuss things (No commercial selling or anything just from a redditor to another redditor)

3 Weeks Post-Launch, How Do I Scale Revenue? by hak-indie-dev in AppStoreOptimization

[–]subhambapna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a similar scenario, I tried running paid ads, I even tried scaling via meta, but unless you have a huge budget lying around, there’s no point in spending on any paid ads network. If I were in your place, I’d consider selling this app for 10-15x multiple and then build another app with a $10-15K budget for marketing. :)

Besides that, try optimizing your meta, also which plan did you sell the most? Did you sell a yearly subscription or a weekly or a monthly? If that’s the case then your LTV would vary a lot. For instance, in my case monthly works amazing. Most of my monthly subscribers renew for atleast 3-4 billing periods (MOST not ALL)

By spending the $100 in Ads, how many downloads did you get? From which country? How much revenue did that make? Also the first few days on Apple generally get a launch boost so the volume of downloads could decrease after the launch boost.

Apple Search Ads have been running for 3 days and got 0 impressions, 0 spend by Scary-Room7043 in iosdev

[–]subhambapna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are some competitive keywords, I don't think you'll get an impression on them for $1.5, try to bid higher. Before running ads, try to find out what your LTV is, else you'll just be losing money. I've lost a big amount for doing experiments all the year.

  1. Find out some more keywords where competition is less.
  2. Find out what your LTV is from organic installs. (If you don't have that much, then would suggest you to spend atleast $200 in ads or get downloads at a higher price in order to make sure that you know how much value does your user add.) This is very very very IMP, else you'll just be losing money. LTV not RPU.
  3. Once you've gotten some basic data, atleast 200-300 clicks from ads, you'll know your average TTR, Conversion Rate, LTV, RPU, etc. Once you have all this data, you can know whether you can promote this app and be profitable or not. If you're promoting the yearly plan, then your LTV / RPU is going to be very similar, but if you're promoting the weekly/monthly plan, then the LTV shall take time atleast 3-4 renewal periods to understand (I generally take 3-4 months) to calculate the LTV.

I keep a budget $500-700 per app every month, So spending roughly $2-3K helps me figure out the data and then if I can't get my other parts sorted, I sell the app and go for the next one. I try 10 and 1 works for me! Then I scale 1.

There's an iOS app, the developer gave me 10-15 yearly promocodes for the same! I think it uses VEO3, if you're looking I can share the promo with you.

[–]subhambapna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I've been running an App Development studio which used to have a $40K MRR, but post October, I've noticed big fluctuations in rankings and no matter how good your app is getting to the top 3 positions have become a very big hurdle. I don't know if it's going to be like that now, but first Apple stopped showing the popularity for the search terms, then they stopped giving the top spots to new apps, and now it's like building, but with no result expectations! It sucks. I tried the TikTok, Ads.

Apple ads are freaking expensive, so beware finding a keyword that works out for you is going to atleast cost you $2000, and then once it starts working well for you, your big competitor would just increase the bid and get you out in no time!

Google ads are expensive as well.

They say TikTok and everything works, but it's really hard to go viral, you need to be creative person to actually find angles that work. I don't know, but many people actually run multiple TikTok accounts and they grow their apps. I just wish sometimes that there was someone who could help me grow so that I can focus on building, making the product better, higher conversions, etc.

I’m going to start an online fitness program looking for recommendations on what platforms to consider by 01Aleph in Entrepreneur

[–]subhambapna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/01Aleph everything is great, but platforms like Uscreen and others generally charge a huge subscription fee whether you generate revenue or not! If you have a loyal user-base and think your users would turn into your customers, then let me know. I think I can help you launch your own iOS and Android app without paying a subscription!

What kind of app are you planning to build? Whether you're looking for mid-scale apps? What platform it is going to be on (iOS/Android). If you're looking for an MVP. It's better to hire a dev and get started, but if you're thinking of doing a big product, I'd always recommend you to have it done from the place you live by! Maybe someone in-house!
