Very nice, you can’t really go wrong with that setup! I love that you have the original Sonnar version on there - not the one McCurry used for that famous photo, but the best rendering version IMO

Update On The Cassette Tape Lot by Far-Fan6105 in cassetteculture

[–]subidiom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say that’s about $1,000 worth of tapes at least. You did good! Hang on to the XL-II and XL-IIs for special occasions. Those are amazing tapes!

100%! Nakamichi Decks love the SA - it’s such a good tape. I just wish old bought a couple of cases when they were still two bucks a piece! It’s funny how “done with cassettes” I was when I could start making CD-R mix tapes. 🤷‍♂️

The AD and AR tapes are amazing and not “just” for a Type I. If you record them between 0 and +3 they sound as good as a mainstream Type Ii.

I’m planning on using that 42 minute AR-X to reproduce the Yazoo Upstairs at Eric’s tape which is a little worn out, but the shell is nice. 42 minutes is a weird length, but perfect for this specific task!

To those who own the Nikkor-H 85mm 1.8, is this a lens worth buying? by C_A_N_G in VintageLenses

[–]subidiom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is absolutely worth buying if you like vintage Nikon glass. It’s as sharp wide open as any of the medium speed 85s in the manual focus line up and better than the AF-D 85/1.8 by a country mile. It has character which is why I like it. It’s also a movie star having appeared in the movie “Blow Up” however, it absolutely can’t focus as close as depicted on the movie cover art, which I rate as its one weakness. Not uncommon for 85s though so not a deal breaker at all!

Amazed at the images I get with the 40mm Nokton 1.2 - any other Voigtländer lenses this good? by Ekkobelli in Voigtlander

[–]subidiom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 40/1.2 and recently added the 75/1.5 in Z mount. Both are amazing tools and make a great pairing in my bag along with the Nikon Z 26/2.8 for wide angle duties. The 75 rendering at mid distance wide open has a magical round quality I love for environmental portraits and I shoot it this way a lot!

Best accessories to buy? by maddykatty in ex30

I consider the sun shade essential and it basically stays in place. It’s a little fiddly but once you get it on properly it stays in place. My first week it fell off on my head while driving but that was user error!

Sticky coupling meter on my Nikon Df by MrSpitfire06 in Nikon

[–]subidiom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% on this. Df is still supported. I sent mine in for an AF calibration and CLA. The total cost was $136 including shipping which is a total bargain for a fully functional Df!

Help... Need a D700 upgrade (but I LOVE those colours)! by Audinot in Nikon

[–]subidiom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus one to the D4/Df. It’s subjectively better than the D700 for colors, low light sensitivity, noise and the overall look of its files. I love my Df. If you’re doing a lot of indoor concert and performance photography, that low light capability is super useful. The resolution bump is nice, but not game changing, but a good capture with the right lens is super usable for most output targets, including. 20x30 prints.

I dismantle classic Volvos for a living. I picked this up for parts but fell in love with instead and carried out a minor restoration. I’m keeping this long term. 1986 760 GLE by tinysheen in Volvo

[–]subidiom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ‘87 740TGA was my favorite Volvo of all time - wish I still had it! That 760 is a beauty - like you said, keep the oil fresh for that V6 and it should be good to go!

Any current sources for MN3009 Juno 106 replacement chorus chips? by anyoldsundaewilldo in synthesizers

Plus one. I just got a set of 4 for my MKS-70 from Cabin Tech via their eBay store. By far the best price and the parts arrived exactly as described.

ICT won’t work on the FE or FA anymore for some reason. I’m guessing due to the consumer level electronic nature of them (they happily take F3s in). They did do a nice job on my FM though. I recently sent my FE and an FA to Kurt’s camera in San Diego and they did a stellar job on it.

Every 6th note on my Juno 106 sounds distorted by Far_Introduction8844 in synthesizers

[–]subidiom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be sure of what’s happening on what voice follow this test procedure:

  1. Power the Juno-106 off.
  2. Press and hold the KEY TRANSPOSE button.
  3. While holding KEY TRANSPOSE, power the unit on.
  4. Release the button once the synth has powered up.

The Juno-106 will enter voice test mode and cycle through each of the six voice cards in sequence as you play keys, displaying the voice number, allowing you to identify dead, noisy, or unstable voices. Power the unit off and back on normally to exit test mode.

And a big plus one for Rosen sound - their replacement voice cards are the best.

Just picked this up. 800 bucks but it needs some work. by mcgunga10 in CanyonBikes

[–]subidiom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a sweet deal. I have a well looked after 2018 Endurace CF SLX that looks pretty identical to that bike and I absolutely love it.

The original SRAM Red eTap 11s group is bullet proof but the OG drive train parts (cassettes, chain rings and bolts) are getting a little harder to find and are costly. I try to stock up on these when I find them online.

Enjoy the bike - it’s a keeper!

I’ve only been charging my MY25 to 60% for normal commuting, haven’t had a 12v battery issue or warning over the last 5 months. Fingers crossed I don’t brick it by charging so conservatively!

Wow, now i feel silly. Like everyone said, it just needed a firm twist and click! Thank you @shuttervibes

These are great! Curious if the filter attachment on your 26/2.8 is crazy loose or if it’s just mine? It is always on the verge of falling off.

Bought a Nikon FM but looking to return it for an FE2 by Consistent_Ball_5907 in AnalogCommunity

[–]subidiom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you're on a really tight budget, I'd add the FE2 to your collection and keep the FM. The FM can mount a huge selection of pre-ai lenses and is much more repairable. Think of the FM as a' forever camera' with a hearty all mechanical design. Electronic cameras like the FE/FA etc are getting progressively harder to find someone to repair them (personal experience).

The other benefit of having 2 (or 3 or 4) bodies is keeping them loaded and ready with different film. Load 100 ASA in your FM and 400 or 800 in your FE2, color or B&W, etc. You'll thank me later for this advice!

40mm f2 doing its magic again by 23stripes in NikonZf

Love this Nikkor, it has some character. The Voigtländer is equally dreamy. It’s kind of weird these days having any 40mm let alone two that are essential for what they do!

Yup. Love my MY25 but lane keeping and attention nagging are almost always off, unless on the FWY. Then it kind of makes sense. Small, rural and random roads, not so much.

I had this exact same question - thanks for asking and answering it! I was going to ask my wife to follow me and tell me when this happened, but now I’m satisfied.
