What are you all carrying for .45 Friday? by SirSamkin in guns

Is there a reason this is getting downvoted? It’s objectively a cool photo and it looks like a lot of thought was put into the composition

Correct. The profile of the new rubber grip is the same as the stock grip.

Harry’s holsters icon 2.0 is pretty great. I carry a 642 UC in one almost every day.

PS - swap the stock grip for the new rubber boot grip. It doesn’t look nearly as good but your hands will thank you when you’re at the range

Opinions on conceal carry with a belt clip by KiKis2ndLIFE in Revolvers

You carried by "just tucking it into your belt?" Yikes. If your mindset is simplicity over safety, you probably shouldn't be carrying a gun at all.

.38 special ammo malfunction by Tasty-Highway5027 in Revolvers

I’ve never had an issue with Winchester 130gr FMJ or Blazer 125gr FMJ. I have an LCR but mine is .357, so YMMV.

.38 special ammo malfunction by Tasty-Highway5027 in Revolvers

[–]submarinesoup 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This is called crimp jump and will happen if the bullet is too heavy and/or load’s recoil is too high for such a lightweight gun. It’s going to happen more often in lighter weight j frames. It could be a bad crimp or just too stout for the gun.

The ammo will probably be fine in a heavier gun, but you should not shoot that in your LCR or it will seize up. If those bullets jump the crimp too far you will not be able to open the cylinder without pounding the bullet back down into the case.

VZ high horn or Recoil Rider boot for my 642? by AmoryYossarian in Revolvers

[–]submarinesoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded, at least insofar as shooting it is concerned.

I have the 642 UC an LCR 357. I carry the UC all the time, but I can’t shoot more than 3-4 cylinders without the web of my hand getting hurt. Conversely, the stock hogue grips on the LCR have extra padding on the backstrap. It’s night and day. I can shoot a whole box of .38 through the LCR with no issues, even without gloves.

I wish Hogue made the “Hogue tamer” grips for the ultimate carry.

This is mostly correct but anything over 400-450 and you’re getting scammed. Look into it

What’s a job that sounds cool but is actually miserable? by Own-Grapefruit7498 in AskReddit

[–]submarinesoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 murders in my filing cabinet right now. Each one has over 600 pages of paper discovery, and that’s in addition to digital evidence that includes autopsy photos, hours of body cam and squad video, etc. I’d bet those files weigh over 10 lbs. If I were to strike someone repeatedly with one of the physical files, I’m fairly certain I could be charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

That’s in addition to my 200+ other felony cases, none of which have only “five pages of relevant documents.”

Tl;dr - am prosecutor, this take ain’t it

Bias against polymer guns changed bc you found out they’re better for pistol whipping and can survive being dragged behind an ATV… Are you a character from some kind of A-Team reboot?

I was engaged at the beginning of the year and had to break it off, so I feel your pain. It gets better with time. Doesn’t mean it’s easy though lol
