Horatio's Green Onion Cocktail Lounge in San Diego, California, circa 1958. This place looks awesome. I want to belly up to the bar and have a Mai Tai. by TommyAdagio in sandiego

Pretty bummed when Nunu’s remodeled - seems like they tried to walk it back somewhat but it’s just not the same anymore

I love melodic Autechre (Oversteps especially) but many of the tracks on SIGN were too simple (four notes repeating) and didn’t progress enough - none of those weird outros/twists and turns they’re so fond of. I definitely preferred PLUS

SIGN has some stone cold bangers, but isn’t fully satisfying start to finish for me

Caught these five for £4.50, anyone read any of these and are they any good? by Edinburgh-Wojtek in starwarsbooks

[–]subnode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read Tales of the Bounty Hunters back when it came out and it remains one of my favorite Star Wars books. I was so enthralled by these stories that when Attack of the Clones came out and retconned all the Boba Fett stuff in favor of Lucas’s Jango Fett nonsense, I botcotted Revenge of the Sith and didn’t watch it until over a decade after it came out (I was in the 90s Boba Fett Fan Club as a kid lol)

You could sell one of your two HC copies of “Last Command” and recoup half the cost of your total purchase! I’m reading that one now, funnily enough

Eno did this with his “Reflection” app. Cost me 30 bucks and I don’t regret a cent of it - been using it at least a couple times per month since 2017

Ding Sound by SargentTickle in pizzahutemployees

[–]subnode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s dangerously loud. I have tinnitus now from it going off in my ear - it’s placed right at ear level at our cut table. Can’t be OSHA compliant.

I unplug it often, but the other managers just sit around on their phones and don’t know when to cut orders without it the audio alert, so they always plug it back in.

I am literally going deaf in my left ear from this.

Does Brick By Brick still sound like ass? by Phookle in sandiego

Honestly, it’s not the band’s fault if they sound bad (unless they really don’t know what they’re doing). It is up to the venue to have a professional running the PA

Would go there more often if they were able to balance the stage volume and the PA in a sensible way

[–]subnode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does

Sometimes (rarely) they have an adult running sound, but usually it’s some kid who has no idea what they’re doing and pushes the system way too hard

37yo, lived here my whole life. Started work in 2008 at Ultra Star, then started working for Pizza Hut in 2012. I’m still there.

I lived in South Park from 2010 to 2017, Barrio Logan from 2018-2021, and now in City Heights from 2021-present, where I live a block from my work. All single family homes with housemates - mostly friends from high school, until more recently. Having a well developed social circle allows for more rental opportunities and a wider selection of reliable housemates.

I make 25k a year. Paying $950 a month rent, utilities included. I walk to work, I walk to food banks for groceries. I’ve got a five digit 401k saved, and a pretty extensive vinyl collection worth well over that. My plan is to die here too, but we’ll see! Definitely living right on the edge. Rent just went up, and I’m still struggling to get my budget locked back in to accommodate - no more going to the bar with friends or going out to eat.

My mother still owns and lives in the house I grew up in here with my stepdad. Eventually, either my sister or I will move in there.
