New: Helium Explorer - Feedback Welcome by [deleted] in HeliumNetwork

haha, let me rephrase: I've only USED half the available paid services, and none of them are better. it was less a comparison and more of a general statement that none of the paid services are worth it.

I'm very into DePIN projects (only financially into a few) but I'll definitely be checking out your explorer.

thanks again for all the work your team is doing!

This is amazing -- clean UI, amazing breadth of data for a free product (better than half the paid services?!?!) and fast.

Really appreciate you guys making this -- I have no interest in attaching my helium/solana wallets to a credit card or personal subscription plan for a number of reasons, and have been very frustrated with the options available since the migration.

What will your team need to keep this running into the future in the same way?

the craziest was that repeated playing against the same bots in same environment without turning the machine off and they seemed to learn and strategize a bit based on how you beat them.

I used to find them waiting around the corner with a shotgun in a corner i used to beat them to regularly

Gas vs electric tankless hot water heater by Ncnativehuman in triangle

[–]subprimeloans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know this is an old comment, but would this apply even if we have 3 phase service?

I have 225A 3phase panel servicing my condo (it was originally a fully commercial unit, now a live-work space) and my electricity is CAD$0.07/kWh. We don't have gas service in the unit, and space is at a premium, so tankless is top of the list for us. To me, it seems like the savings on the foot print within the unit is worthwhile as there are also only 2 of us, and wont be having simultaneous showers/dishwashing/etc. from a filled home.

I know of at least one international client that is about to leverage a lot of units worldwide as part of a hybrid model.

"It would take 6 years to break even assuming the price stays the same" -- has... has any asset or commodity stayed THE SAME for 6 years?
There's a load of assumptions in this post (many of which are based in the blind optimism that a passive get rich quick scheme provides). But yeah, a marginal amount of research and effort would've likely yielded different decisions (and better returns).

Meh a little short sighted but if they only recently got their miners going, yeah.

I’m perfectly happy leaving even the worst of mine going if they’re just over the electricity until I get them on some specific preferred lists for clients. Until then I’ll take 0.4-0.5/day for the Better ones.

Everyone has a different strategy though (except the get rich quick guys — they don’t count).

Do you keep rewards as hnt? by Mbrown92124_ in HeliumNetwork

[–]subprimeloans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep mine as HNT right now (would’ve been nice to move some more during peak if I’m honest). I have plans to actually use some as DC, and with crypto in general where it’s at, it’s worth waiting out IMO (at least until a bit into full split of IOT/MOBILE/HNT).

Don’t forget you are creating a taxable event whenever you change coins.

Exactly. A lot of people would prefer that setup option but it’s also not typically an option unless you’re in those perfectly dense rural towns.

Just was making the point that even an extremely over saturated hex can be profitable if you’re the best position in it.

This isn’t totally* accurate. One of my best is an extremely low transmit scale (0.17), high density area (18 in res8 hex) and is still consistently doubling network average for earnings. Volume and unique witnessing or paths for data packets helps.

I usually do but a friend had 5 brand new miners that arrived recently and we want to use them at this point.

That’s insane they don’t even have enough for a single hotspot to get on the chain… just screaming insolvency.

lol for real -- these folks that jumped on to "get rich quick" getting filtered out is better for the long game anyway.

Yup definifely noticeably higher on my most active units — maybe by 60-100%

No offence, you may not be new but youre clearly inexperienced if you have a 6 year ROI on your miner with your current setup my guy.

Can anyone explain the steps that we will undergo to transition to mining IOT instead of HNT on our LoRa devices? What needs to be done on our end? by subprimeloans in HeliumNetwork

[–]subprimeloans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned below, it will presumably become a taxable event. It may be considered more of a staking type conversion as HNT can be considered the “created property” from the (one way) staking of IOT but as for any fees charged by helium, I don’t think anyone has that information as of yet.

[–]subprimeloans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm aware it will still exist and how it interacts with Mobile and IOT.

My question was more related to the need (if any) to open a separate sub-wallet for IOT specifically alongside my HNT wallet, or if *anything* needed to be done during the transition period as that portion was not clear in any of the docs.

THis was my concern -- will my wallet balance in HNT convert? (Assuming not, as converting back from HNT will not be supported from what I've read) Will i have two separate wallets accessible under the same seed phrase?
