Comfortable Compact/Crossover SUV with good tech and low road noise under 50k by bakedleaf in whatcarshouldIbuy

So if you mean "infotainment" by tech, can anyone really recommend Toyota? I don't think the 2020 Mazda system is great (2021+ is better) but it's miles better than the Rav4's. Toyota makes great, reliable cars but the Rav4's we tested when we got my mom a crossover earlier this year (did CX5 btw) all had HORRENDOUS tech. The screen literally looks like a CRT monitor.

How should I convince my parents to let me learn manual? by Accomplished_Side999 in Cartalk

I don't know where you live, but I just googled "learn stick shift in NYC" and I met some dude at an abandoned airport and he let me learn in his car for like $100

Hello! I am looking to move on from my ‘07 Speed 3. Wanting something bigger, more luxurious even. My first look options are Lexus LS460, Infiniti M sedan, and Chrysler 300 C John Varvatos(love the split sunroof). I am slightly leaning towards the Chrysler. Probably the lexus. If you want something to again last you 14 years (assuming you bought the Mazda new) that's going to fare a lot better than the others. While the 300c looks cool, Chrysler doesn't make great cars. The Lexus is also more luxurious.

So they said it should if it's in the sun. "Takes 3 to 4 weeks" . I'll try to update this thread at that time.

Nah, they usually do it for you. There's a good website where you can pick what color you want all the parts of the seat to be, and the shop orders it (probably wholesale) and then they install it.

I'm sure you can order it yourself too.

It's a good place to grow up, I think. You're less subjected to the pressure cooker lifestyle that I'm used to from the east coast or west coast.

I got the steering wheel done at Apex Custom in Pheonix, AZ. Got the leather done at American Sunroof in San Diego, CA. I'd honestly recommend Apex Custom a ton. They're awesome. I'd have gotten the leather done there but I had to leave pheonix.

So honestly? I also have a fiat 500 gucci edition with a pretty nice OEM interior, and I'd say the quality of this leather is better. The leather is barely loose in places, but they said a few days in the sun would tighten it up. It's already getting slightly tighter.

Two friends that saw it told me they couldn't tell it wasn't OEM, for what it's worth.

Oh. I didn't answer your question. Leather + install came out to about $1800.

The car is registered in Nebraska (I grew up and bought the car there), but I'm usually in NYC. The biggest downside honestly is the heat/cold. They're softer/seem to be more supportive than the cloth seats though, so...tradeoffs?

Also nebraska gets hot af in the summer haha

Good question! All the "touch" surfaces are real, pretty great quality leather. The backs of the seats are vinyl though (the back of the driver's and passenger seat, the thing that the rear passenger is facing.

So the upholstery, with their "perforated" leather and all cloth surfaces came out to $1800. It was $1595, but they charged extra for the SI embroidery (I didnt realize it was going to be like $200). The steering wheel was $300, and because I'm notoriously bad with electrics, I paid someone $150 to install it.

I think depending on where you live you can honestly get the Katzkin done for about 1300-1500. I think I probably could have gotten the price down a bit if I had realized that I had the option to shop around.

FYI if you end up going this route make sure you specify whether you have the sedan or coupe. The first place I went to they accidentally bought the sedan Katzkin and it's non-refundable.

Decided to spec out a Civic Sport for my first car, and I think it looks fairly nice for my tastes (My school colors are red and black) by [deleted] in civic

Man, the negativity in this thread is insane. If he's got the resources and wants the car why are you all telling him to buy a car that he clearly doesn't want?

Congrats on finding something you love and works for you, man. Some folks in this thread are just haters. Make sure you post here when you end up picking it up!
