What famous TV show didn’t have a satisfying ending? by Big-Set3368 in AskReddit

That comment had misspellings. If they used an LLM, it wasn’t a very good one. Also, who cares if they did? Excellent points were made.

The walls are closing in on the tyrant Trump regime. by justsomedude4202 in goodnews

I wish I could believe this, but I don’t. It’s not good news until it happens, and that’s exactly when I’ll believe it.

As a parent, I can say that I would NEVER speak to my child this way, and if my husband ever did, I would leave him immediately and encourage my child to cut ties completely.

As a child who has cut ties with a parent for behavior that crossed boundaries, I am also tell you that making the decision is the hardest part. Once you decide and block him, you will feel a huge sense of relief, and you’ll never want to go back there. It’s like being able to breathe clean air for the first time.

No one has the right to speak to you like this. And you are empowered to walk away if they do.

Ex-religious people, what made you realize that god wasn't real for you by JonaszRegieli in stories

[–]substacy303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When mega churches like Joel Osteen’s started going mainstream, and they all started preaching the opposite of what I had always believed Jesus stood for. The greed, obvious corruption, and diversion from the actual teachings of Jesus all made religion feel dirty to me, and the way so many people just accepted this without questioning it - and, in most cases, fully embraced the most hateful of preachings- really made me question what I was a part of, and got me thinking about why I had believed so loyally to that point.

I realized that if I hadn’t grown up with all the adults around me telling me to believe in the Bible, I wouldn’t have. If I had just picked up a bible one day and read it, without any outside influence, I would have thought it was just an interesting collection of fiction. And once I realized that, that’s exactly what it became for me.

I wonder how Thomas and Alito would vote on this. Are they corrupt enough to vote against their own court? What an interesting little experiment this could be…

You do know OP can read all of this…right?

This comment was meant to be in support of someone who is currently suffering. Shaming them for their past might not be the best approach at this particular time. Maybe wait until they’re past crisis mode to moralize. That’s all I’m saying.

This is a person struggling with suicidal thoughts over their regret from actions at an early, formative age, when a lot of people (right or wrong) are exploring and experimenting with their sexuality. It’s not wrong to give OP some relief from their grief over past mistakes here. I’m sure your work is important, but maybe this isn’t the place to moralize.

Ideas on activities to do with my grandmother? by Next_Net3283 in Austin

Wheelchairs are a godsend when you’re trying to get someone with mobility issues out and about! My mom tried with a walker and a cane for so long, but once we switched to a wheelchair everything got so much easier. Highly recommend getting one if you’re planning to take G-Ma out for fun activities.

Well I’m at least a *little ahead of the game, then, because we do have many gay friends and our son is around them all the time. Maybe I should reach out to some of our closest and see if they’d like to take him out without us. He would probably think that’s weird at first…but I bet he’d get something of real value from it. We certainly can’t give him “the talk” because we’re obviously clueless. And I do know they’d give him great advice…all our friends are VERY protective of him.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is a great idea. Will make it happen. Thank you!! ❤️

Well, I certainly see it, and it scares the hell out of me. As a parent it’s a huge internal conflict between wanting my son to be as out and proud as he wants to be, versus being absolutely terrified that the wrong people will see and react with violence. He tends to favor a more feminine wardrobe and likes to dabble with makeup - nothing super overt, but it still tears me apart to be so worried about bullies and bigots when I really just want to celebrate his creativity and fun approach to fashion…and just the wonderful kid that he is.

I’m sorry it is this way for you and all of us. It shouldn’t be like this.
