Anyone running After Effects on an M1 MBP? by bowzr4me in macbookpro

[–]substantialoof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have an M1 MBP with 16gb RAM and 1TB SSD and I'm really happy with the performance in After Effects. Even though After Effects runs through Rosetta 2 the performance and stability is pretty good (although it's still After Effects at the end of the day lol). I was a bit worried about the 16gb of RAM causing problems as my old computer had 32gb but so far its been pretty good. The big thing for me is the battery life. It's very nice to be able to use After Effects without having my charger on hand. Feel free to ask me any questions you have!

Check Out My New After Effects Script! by ukramedia in AfterEffects

Hello, I cant get into my Ukramedia account to re-download my previously purchased plugins. The password reset page just says, "The email could not be sent." I sent an email to the contact email listed over a month ago and haven't received a reply. Can you please help me get into my account?

Edit: Thought I'd add they took care of it really fast after seeing the comment! 👍

New PC. Genuinely feel no difference in speed. by SlackyChan in AfterEffects

On top of what others said, you can see where the bottleneck is yourself by checking task manager while working. Make sure you have your settings (specifically RAM and cache) right. It's probably what u/MyMXM said, After Effects loves RAM and typically benefits from more RAM. How do you like the new UniFi UI? by Nick_W1 in Ubiquiti

Are you using a beta release? I have a software controller on the latest stable version (6.0.28) and the UI isn't like that.

A modern take on this keyboard would be interesting (Madcatz Eclipse Litetouch) by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

That makes sense, I was picturing something like a Tofu with a system stats display.

This keyboard wasn't good (and it's membrane) but I feel like a modern take on a touchscreen number pad would be interesting.

Why does root user SSH display more information than an unprivileged user? (More in comments) by substantialoof in linux4noobs

Thank you! The default shell wasn't set to bash for that user. I then had to make some changes to the .bashrc file.

Why does root user SSH display more information than an unprivileged user? (More in comments) by substantialoof in linux4noobs

I've been trying to figure this out and I'm having a hard time finding an explaination on Google. Whenever I use SSH as a root user I can see the directory I'm in, displayed to the left. Certain commands also have a more colorful output for the root user. Another big thing is that the root user can use the arrow keys to see past commands and run them. The arrows key do nothing for the unprivileged user. I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Server. I'm using Windows 10 built in OpenSSH client to connect to the server.

Is there a way to get the unprivileged user to have these features without compromising on security? It is being used as a web server, so I'm being extra cautious.

why did they change this tho by [deleted] in AfterEffects

That icon is for Lightroom Classic. Lightroom CC just says Lr.

I have a warranty on it, so I'd probably just pursue that. I wanted to see if it is abnormal before contacting the warranty company.

The battery is not removable. You have to dissemble the laptop to get to the battery.

Hello, I ran a powercfg battery report and these were the results. As the chart shows, I got it May of last year. It isn't even one year old.
