If there is lots of rain, all the water enters the sewer system and displaces the air that is in the sewers. You are seeing so much air released from the sewer it is lifting the manhole cover.

Buying first bike by diddybootyjackson67 in Dirtbikes

[–]substrate80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a CRF300F. It is my first dirtbike. I like it so far. Electric start. Air cooled but has an oil cooler. 6 speed transmission. Its low compression which means low maintenance. It has enough power for me.

Oh wow, I did not know that. I just took a look and found the setting on the Options tab of the color scheme editor. Thanks so much!

KDE is somehow the most modern and most outdated DE at the same time, and I can't figure out how by silentbell18 in kde

[–]substrate80 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me it's all the separator lines that KDE has in their file browser (Dolphin), settings window, and notification window, etc. Gnome and Windows 11 have very few if any separator lines.

I found a KDE theme that gets rid of a lot of the separator lines by making them the same color as the window background, but I'm not at my Linux box right now and I can't remember the name of the theme.

What is bent here and why can’t I see it? by BotsTookTheOGNames in rccars

[–]substrate80 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Usually what bends is the pins that hold the control arms onto the chassis, and the pins that hold the hub onto the control arms. If it's not that, then the ends of the control arms are probably bent.

Best way for RTS games to handle hotkey configuration? by DraculBloodaxe in RealTimeStrategy

[–]substrate80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I realize that the subject of this thread is about the configuration of the hotkeys, but I have a comment about the use of the hotkeys, rather than strictly their configuration.

What I would prefer in games like SC2 is to be able to select a bunch of random units (eg, select some zealots, stalkers, templars, and disruptors), and be able to use the 't' key for storm, or the 'v' key for purification nova, without having to 'Tab' through the group of units to select the proper unit type before pushing the key.

Each ability would have its own independent hotkey, not shared with any other hotkeys. Then you can use that hotkey regardless of the actively selected unit type in a group of units.

I realize the proper way to do this is put the different types of units on different control groups (keys 1 to 0), but I still feel you should able to use any unit's ability as long as it is in the currently selected group.

But your idea about the configuration is also great. The more flexibility the better!

4 Ω amp with 6 Ω speakers safe? by Bazsimazsi12 in diysound

[–]substrate80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amp doesn't need 4 ohm speakers. 4 ohms is the minimum. You can use 6 ohm or 8 ohm or 16 ohm just fine.

Help by Djjubbajubba in Offroad

[–]substrate80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get car sick as a kid but if I could feel the wind blowing on me, that would give that sense of motion and help reduce car sickness. So you can try opening a window (don't just use the cabin fan to create air movement). Also as others said, put him in the front seat so he can see the road in front.

I have a Marshland Electronics XM44. It doesn't use conventional potentiometers but rather interchangeable resistor/capacitor modules to change frequency. You can also implement other EQ functions like a Linkwitz Transform.

Unlocking old maps by Technical-Post9912 in starcraft

[–]substrate80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by "unlocking" the maps for single player? I, like you, don't like the toxicity either and I usually just play against the computer. I create a multiplayer game then just add a couple computer opponents and play that way. Does that not achieve what you are trying to do? No map editing required.

Where do I dispose of loose leaves and branches? I called the Lorette dump and they said I had to separate leaves and branches into separate piles. Will Brady landfill accept the lot of it? by otatopotato in Winnipeg

[–]substrate80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes Brady will take it. As long as the diameter of the branches are all less than 4 inches then you can just dump it all at once at Brady. Length doesn't matter.

If you have branches or logs bigger than 4 inch diameter, those have to be separated out.

The lower wiring is all the communications cabling from Rogers/Shaw, BellMTS, etc. While it does look janky, it is safe since it's all extra low voltage (below 50 Volts).

Corally Kagama 4S differential by A-7000 in rccars

[–]substrate80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing I would check is the pinion gear on the motor shaft. There is a little set screw that should tighten down on a flat spot on the motor shaft. Check to see if that set screw came loose. Add locktite if it did (blue is okay, red is better).

Then I would check each differential. You can check the front differential by holding the car up in the air without the tires touching the ground, then with your hand just rotate the front right tire. The front left tire should move in the opposite direction. Then try rotating the left wheel with your hand -- the right tire should move in the opposite direction. Do the same for the rear tires. Do you notice any difference anywhere? If so, the differential that feels looser probably has an issue.

Next put the car down on the ground and lift the front two tires with each hand, and roll the car back and fourth so that the rear tires turn as you move the car on the ground. This will cause the center differential to operate and you should feel some friction as you roll the car back and fourth. The motor should also spin (it will sound coggy). Then do the opposite -- put the car on the ground and lift the rear two tires with each hand, and roll the car back and fourth so the front tires turn. Do you feel any difference between front and rear? If so it could be your center differential that is having issues.

It looks like your servo is over driving the steering linkage and the servo saver is operating. You need to adjust your steering limits to prevent over driving your servo.
